Cleaning an Engine/Engine Bay.............

Featured Replies

............is it just a case of Spraying/brushing on " Gunk " or some other cleaner the just power jet it off ...............Or is it not that Simple...........:ne_nau:

I used "gunk" on a petrol engine a few times. Was simple enough - warm engine, spray on, hose off.

Think that covering electricals with ally foil would have been a good idea at the time, but had no probs, and did have a shiny engine.....

Hi.

I use AG machine cleaner to clean under the bonnet. Like previously mentioned you should always cover any electrical components before you start. Tin foil or cling film held in place with a rubber band does the trick. Spray on your degreaser. Allow to act then agitate with a brush if necessary before rinsing off with a hose or if you must use a pressure washer then i would recommend using it under a light force and keeping the jet away from any electrical source or air intakes for that matter.

Once its cleaned there are products on the market which you can spray over for a protective and shiny ar matt finish. I use AG vinyl and rubber care for example.

Always read the label of the products your using though because the application and removal may differ.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
