Felicia 1.9D problem/s.

Featured Replies

Well, I was trying to start her up and I obviously ran the battery down because of lack of fuel, I put some in, making a significant difference on fuel guage which I thought would be enough, I tried to start her again, this time with a topped up battery and still nothing, not even a splutter, only the rotation created from the startermotor. I cracked open the injector heads, and looked for any sign of fuel but there was nothing, i tried turning her over again until fuel came out where i had loosened the injectors but no fuel still. I found a bleeding nipple on a pipe coming from the carb, so I thought if i hooked up a pipe and sucked then i could bring up some diesel to the injectors, sure enough it worked, and there was fuel finally at the injectors, i tightened the injector heads up, and tigtened the valve on the nipple i had been bleeding from and tried to start her then and she still won't start. Now i just have a flat battery which i'll need to charge and then I can progress from there.

I'm just looking for any advice or experience on problems like this, I really want to know what it could be, It's really getting under my skin! :thumbdwn::thumbup:Cheers

Im a bit confused as to mention of a carb, as diesel engines dont have one!

Best thing to do is crack open the pipes at the injectors a couple of turns, then spin the engine over until fuel comes out , then tighten pipes and it should start. If no fuel comes out ,you might have a blockage caused by dirt being sucked up from an empty tank. If you have got fuel and it still wont start , the heater plugs mite be shot

Also make sure the fuel filter is full of diesel.

You mean they don't have hand primers or self-bleeding injectors?

The fuel moistens the injector lines but it doesn't come out more than that and I filled up the fuel filter aswell which the leved dropped everytime i cranked the car over. I think it might be blocked by dirt as you said but how would i go about cleaning up something like that?

And carb was the first thing to come to my mind, as the engine is throttled there, I know it's a diesel pump honest

Immobiliser problem?

Immobiliser problem?

The car doesn't have an immobiliser, and even if it did, can't see why it would just play up randomly, the first time i started it when it stopped running, it coughed, now it won't even make any kind of combustion

Remove the IN side fuel line from the fuel filter and give it a good blow (unless you have a compressor and blow gun). If no joy there you mite have to disconnect the lines at the tank

The car doesn't have an immobiliser

Oh yes they do I assure you of that.

My father damaged the plastic on the key and the little transponder chip in it fell out and thus made the key only good for opening doors. We found this out after about a week of replacing this and that.

The pump didn't pump fuel. It would turn over but never fire. The only way it would start was to spray easy-start in the air intake, stop and it would just stall.

He's going to buy me another key. £££

Odd way for an immobiliser to work. The one in my Xantia (the only one that wasn't transponder operated) disabled the starter motor completely.

I was not aware of an imobiliser at all, funny thought, because my plastic key is pretty damaged and i opened it up and I don't see a chip anywhere inside it. Only the mount for the key to be fixed to. Could you recommend a way to order a new key, and/or disable the imobiliser? Could I go to a scrapyard and get 2 new locks a new key and ECU and use the car like that?

Diesels don't realy have an ecu.

I think you have to change the ignition barrel but don't quote me on that.

If you crack the key open, by the metal part of the key you should find what looks like a bit of plastic mounted on the inside of the plastic casing (you could mistake it for a sprue, I nearly did).

In your service history or with the keys you should have a kind of dogtag style metal plate with your cars technical details, on this is what is needed although I believe they can do it with the chassis number.

Main dealer only I'm affraid and not cheap in the UK.

Are there two keys and are two people using the car. If you have two then you could test them both to save any possible unnessasery purchaces.

Theres only 1 key, and only 1 user of the car. I think I can bypass the imobiliser via connecting my live feed from the battery to the solenoid not really sure how's the best way to do it, but i'll have a go.
