Just changed my pollen filter....

Featured Replies

After being offered £7.50 by Ebay through a paypal voucher - I ended up buying a pollen filter for my car for about £1 in the end. (I really ran out of ideas what to spend it on, but had a time limit to spend it, so wtf :D)

Well, I didn't think mine would need changing, but oh I was wrong. I ended up emptying a shedload of leaves and rubbish on the passenger footmat during it's removal, and it was as black as anything. I can't remember it's last change, but it was probably over 20k miles ago. :D New one in (some aftermarket carbon/paper one) and hopefully more air should come through into the cabin now. :o

Old one right in the dustbin!

They make a lot of difference!

Speaking of oxygen being a good thing - Just tweaked my NOS switch with the help of a coolant pressure testing kit.... Found out it had somehow moved to cut in at 2 bar - when my max boost is 1.8 bar....

So, it's been brought down to come in at just below 1.5 again. PPPFFFASSSHHHHHHTTTT! :D :nx:

Your lucky it was just dirty , mine was soaking wet when I changed it , as well as being full of leaves! Luckily its sorted now , no more pool on the passenger mat!!

Where abouts is it?

I have never needed to go into the passenger footwell other than to hover.

Got a part No. , or Ebay link?

:D

But since its late and I cant get to sleep: its in the passengers footwell behind the glovebox, 2 sliding clips takes the cover off, filter drops out.

Remember to put some paper in the footwell to catch all the debris and remember which way the filter comes out as it is sided for airflow.

Or in my case, forget about that, but luckily have all the crap fall on to the footmat for easy removal. :D

Thanks for this everyone; just bought one ready for a big "service" of my car some time in the next week... involving cambelt, brakes, oil and filter change and a whole list of other things as long as my arm...

What age and mileage?

4 years, 50,000 miles. I think some major stuff should have been done at 40,000 but I do ~ 28,000 miles a year and wasn't prepared to do it at 40k...

4 years,

That should be your cambelt change warning alarm sounding. ;)

Just realised, that's exactly what you have planned, so spot on!:D

Or do it just before you're gonna hoover the car anyway..... :)

Indeed; it's just over 4 years old (It's on an '04 plate) but I wanted to wait for the nice round figure of 50,000 miles (400 or so away) before I did it. Here's hoping it doesn't snap or jump in the next week or so...

Sorry if it's been already posted, but how do you change the pollen filter on a Furby, please. A link will do.

 Not searching is one thing, not reading is another :P

I've searched again and found a posting with photos which shows the filter housing and position of clips to remove the housing.

http://briskoda.net/fabia-i/where-your-interior-fabia-air-filter/57349/

It's easy when you know how. A few hints - the housing is removed when the two clips are slid to the middle - they may aready be there as they slide very easily. As always, remember the exact position of the filter and housing for re-assembly - the air flows from the passenger door side towards the centre console - the leaves and muck will give you some idea. Reassembly is easy, but make sure the cover clips into place - ie you push it upperwards, as otherwise the sliding clips will not hold it in place.

Other posts advise you to check for water leaks in the footwell after doing this as some people have had problems after changing the filter - i can't see why - hopefully I wont find out the hard way.

Got your PM, I'm not going down to arguing over messages,

However I tried searching on it and quite a few useful posts came up on the subject.

Seems to work for me, maybe broken for you?

Hope these help: http://briskoda.net/search/result-3329574/

Thanks mate - as you can see I did manage to do a search earlier which found what I wanted and the job is much easier than I imaged.
