Hello BriSkoda members

Really I’m in very bad Situation with my 1997 Felicia.

First it was heated becuase of AC.

& I went to repair it in workshop & they change the upper part of motor,

the it becomes over heated without AC. ( in normal running)

they clean up the radiator & change alot of parts in cool circle.

Now it becomes over heating after 90 Km/H.

I spent t much money & still haves same problem

Plz tell me what can i do.

I'm in egypt & temp Approx. 37

Best Regards

Tamer Ragab

I would sat the radiator is blocked internally, also check that the radiator cooling fan is working. personaly i would wire the fan up to a bypass switch so it can be on all the time the engine is running

Thanks for ur care

i did it works very well if the car stops or runs ( under 60 KMh) it doesn't heat, over 60 KMH it the heat marker goes to 110 C & higher.

i did clean the radiator 2 times & i changed all thermostat ( the one which built in radiator ) & the other 2.

My first thoughts were of a blocked radiator, or a failed water pump.

When the engine is up to normal running temperature, does the top hose to the radiator get hot and hard?

does the top hose to the radiator get hot and hard?

Yes the top hose gets hot & hard

& the lower one less hot

It's probably not a blocked radiator then, and I'm not sure about the water pump either! Is the radiator fan cutting in and out correctly?

Yes it works normally in its time the problem is the fan works & the temp. go up, i have 2 weeks run around the problem. water pump works well

If the generator doesn't work well, the motor heated?

If the fan and water pump work, and the thermostat and fan thermo-switch are ok, we need to dig deeper.

Is the pressure cap on the system ok?

Is the "anti-freeze" ok? This does much more than just stopping the engine freezing. It also contains corrosion inhibiters and acts as a "water wetter", which raises the boiling point of the coolant. Regardless of where you live, I'd recommend at least 25% antifreeze, rising to 50% from about 48deg North or South Latitude towards the poles.

Is there any sign of abnormal corrosion in the radiator or under the pressure cap? Look for rust colour in the coolant, or blue or green powder on and brass or copper parts, or indeed white powder on aluminium ones.

Also, from "if the generator...motor heated", have you checked the auxiliary drivebelt tension? It should be about half an inch (12mm) movement either way for a "V"-drive belt, or twist through 90 degrees for a flat belt.
