Why did you buy your Fabia vRS?

Featured Replies

As I haven't got mine yet and I'm 99% certain that's it's going to be my next car I'd like to know why did you buy yours?

It was the fastest car I could afford at the time that had the correct number of doors!

That, and the fact that Jezza sung it's praises on the QT in his newspaper column (even if he wouldn't admit it on Top Gear! :D )

It was something different that not alot of people had or knew about. Different story now lol. Word has got round now lol

For two reasons:

I needed a car the exact opposite of the family-wagon I was driving to/from work in - boring, heavy, slow and used a massive amount of petrol.

I wanted a car that I could mod away at myself, constantly getting a thrill at the changes I put in with my own two hands....

I chose well, in retrospect....

I bought mine because I previously had a 1.9 naturally aspirated diesel engined Fabia and was very impressed, and wanted something with enough power to put a smile on my face...

It's done everything I've needed it to and I won't be getting rid any time soon!

These are pretty much the same reasons why I'm getting mine. A 19 I can forget fast petrols as the insurance companies crucify me. It's the fastest car I can insure.

When I was 19 I insured a 172 clio. Group 16

Didnt keep it long.

Now, I'm 21 at the end of July and Hoping the VRS will cost me £500 for next year.

Fuel is good too if you dont play too much/ too hard

Insurance going down at 21 is a myth. Sorry. NCB is the only thing that will reduce your premium...

When you get it, post piccies up.. and let the modding commence

Fuel economy, low insurance group, good performance.

I had a Punto HGT and was getting sick of the 30mpg at best. The jump to 50mpg was very appealing.

I don't drive it fast so the fact that it's a little pocket rocket was an added bonus.

It's gonna be subtle mods at first. Keep the insurers happy. Then the plan is the do the standard thing on here with a vRS - lowered 35mm, RARB and some nice alloys.

What I think is great with the vRS is that it's fairly quick standard and if I get bored of it, instead of buying a new car just remap it (and possibly a new clutch if I want the max performance possible out of the map) then it feels like a new car again. If I do remap which will be a way off it will probably be to 165-170 bhp. Save the clutch and other bits.

My mate just remapped his Golf GT TDI 130 (ASZ engine) with Celtic Tuning to 185 bhp. Within a few miles he already gets clutch slip. This is why I think I'll get a slightly less harsh map.

At the time was fastest car i could afford and the economy of ther car is immense for performance. Can be easily modded, comfy and practicle, oh and cheap to insure as it is a Skoda and has 5 doors.

Group 12 insurance, 45+ mpg, good looks, easily modded to make a good car even better....

Mine went from 1600 a year at 20, to 860 at 21. Myth??

I thought a myth was an unmarried woman with a lisp.....

I've just insured a Fabia vRS at 21 with NO NCB because I was always on my dad's insurance! it does go slightly down when your 21 but looking at quotes etc it won't go down a great deal until not classed as a young driver (17-24 according to most insurance companies that i looked at). I also found out to my annoyance that most Ins comps will only insure someone of this age on a vRS with 2 years NCB. However I got mine fully comp in my name for 800 quid. At 21 with no NCB i thought that was a decent deal.

BTTT i bought a vRS because it ticked all the right boxes fuel economy,m speed, number of doors, modification potential etc etc.

I wanted a sporty little diesel......the fabia fitted all the bills and was cheap enough for me to insure...it fits all the bills...good on fuel, small and nimble, and very quick !

I started off with a Hyundai Coupe then went to a 206 D turbo then a Merc 220 cdi sport then a mondeo 2.0 tdci then to the VRS.

My journey to work is 50 miles along country lanes.

There simply isnt another car that can do this trip better for less cash.

Diesel

5 doors

Sporty

Cheap Insurance

Quick

Cheap

Good Looking?? in my eyes anyway

Not many cars can fill the criteria

Wanted a fast car but had to be good on juice have 5doors and good looking and also make me smile when driving

The cost of the thing for me. I had a V5 Golf before i bought fabia vRS and i rate it as good as that

Wanted to stay with the VAG marque BUT didn't want a VW (bad experiences). Wanted something nippy, wanted a diesel, needed 5 doors AND didn't want a 'common' car (think Focus, Astra etc).

So, the Fabia vRS hit the spot.
