Why did you buy your Fabia vRS?

Featured Replies

It was reasonably quick and frugal on the test drive. Ordered a new one, was slightly quicker but never got the economy (even driving lightly) - 9month average was just under 40mpg :(

Performance+MPG+Its a Skoda comments = Smiles all round!!

I was after a warm hatch, that was subtle, but had plenty of potential. Also, after driving chris`s, i had to have one! Done 700 miles in 9 days of having it.

Having sold my golf VR6 to buy a house (no the golf didnt pay for the house but you know what i mean) i was used to a bit of power....im still renovating the house so need all the cash i can spare, but needed a nice car for work and something that made me happy. so it had to be diesel...the options were golf mk4 tdi 130, ibiza mk4 FR, or the skoda Fab VRS....

golf mk4's look to erm...well just a bit like nothing, the ibiza interior kin of sucked, the fabai is the just right.

I have only had it 3 days, iv done 520 miles, i just want to be in it all the time!

I would say its better than my VR6, of course without the awesome v6 sound track....

My advice is stop thinking, and just do it, you wont regret it!

I didn't buy one. :D I bought a cheaper fabia and turned it into a "vRS" over the past 3 years or so.

When I got my first fabia back in 2001 it was simply because it had won supermini of the year, but I could never have predicted how my Skoda path would have taken me over the following 7 years....

bought mine after a test drive lol, drove both the octavia vrs and fabia vrs, dont really need a big car but I did want a deisel so the fabia won  and its a bit different :P

Also ive owned various VW golfs (still own a vr6 Mk3) so wanted to stay with VAG

Fell in love with it after seeing the "Top Gear" VRs vrs Mini Cooper race.

Couldn't afford it but took one out for a whole day's test drive.

Just had to have one after that.

No regrets, best car i've ever had.

i bought mine because i needed a car after my last skoda was written off and got bored of trying to find something i would be happy with so i called my local dealer to ask what fabia's they had for sale, went along and picked mine out of three on the forecourt.

i'd always fancied one since they were released but i didnt spend ages looking for one. bit of an impulse buy really but i've never regretted it.

its my 1st Diesel, always fancied one since the day it came out and when i test drove it and it put a smile on my face that was it! had to have it! Plus the insurance Was cheaper than my previous car (Citroen C2 GT 1.6 16v) and its faster and more economical!

Ticks all the right boxes for me, simple as that. So much so, I'm on my second vRS :)

Suits me down to the ground with the changes I've made and I don't think there's anything else available that can offer the economy\feel\handling mix. Also like the fact that it's a little bit different and I still don't see that many about

Cheers,

Steve

It was done on both shows...

Yarp. Clarkson in vRS vs Hammond in Cooper for TG, and Needell driving both against the clock for 5G...

Couldn't afford an Octavia vRS specced up to the level I wanted!:)

I like diesels. I like VAG cars. This was the cheapest one of the lot for an 05 plate car.

Because we all know the fabia is the bestest fastest car ever!!!!

Seriously though I got it because it is a frugal, quick, 5 dr hatchback which doesn't have a boy racer image (or does it?!).

i didnt buy the fabia, only because it wasnt big enough. so instead i purchased a leon 150 fr+

which doesn't have a boy racer image (or does it?!).

I Hope not...

I wanted one for about four years. At that time I had a 9N Polo (i.e. on the PQ24 platform) and really liked it but wanted more power. A year or so later I got to do a press review of the Polo GT - we looked at it alongside an Ibiza FR and a VRS and the VRS came out ahead by a country mile.

The Polo was too expensive and was missing features (like traction control). The Ibiza just wasn't put together right and was too much of a "meh" car. The VRS just ticked all the boxes.

So a few years later when the headgasket went on my daily grind diesel, it just made sense. It's not the fastest car out there, but it is one of the most economical and I just really like it!!! Plus, the prospect of moding it in a couple of years when the warranty's gone is really enticing...

i bought mine cos it fast, frugal, looks good and is basically a veedub

When I was 19 I insured a 172 clio. Group 16

Didnt keep it long.

Now, I'm 21 at the end of July and Hoping the VRS will cost me £500 for next year.

Fuel is good too if you dont play too much/ too hard

21...I remember 21.....Happy days...

I bought it for the performance and economy balance... I wanted to have my cake and eat it!

Servicing costs a slight shocker though

Nice. Can't wait to get mine now. Saw a good one last week but I missed out as I don't have the funds yet. It had Xenons, good mileage and would have been perfect.
