My new VRS calling fellow yellow's

Featured Replies

i got my car on saturday, im over the moon with it!

I spent sunday cleaning, claying, polishing and waxing my car to get the paint nice and clean, she looks nice, but the lower half of the bumper seems to be a totally different shade of yellow....do any other yellow VRS owners have the same or has some one been bad and hurt her bum?

Looks like a re-sprayed panel to me...my yellow Octy bumper looks just fine !!

when you were polishing it did you get any colour paint transfer on pad/cloth? If you did i'd say a re-spray.

If you bought it from a dealer they might be able to tell you, if not try thr previous owner

Nice car, and good job on the detailing. As I remembe, there are two differenet colours of yellow Fabia - Lemon yellow and some other type of yellow. looks to me like someone replaced that panel with one off the other shade of yellow.

No mate, no colour transfer, off to the body shop when i get a few quid spare.....lol

Mine is Lemon yellow except for the roof which is a sort of cream (sun fade) and the rear spoiler which is a brighter yellow than the bodywork :-)

It was fine until I noticed it and now it stands out like a sore thumb

Nice looking car!

I'd say that was a peach you have there, but the colours wrong. heheh...

Seriously though, very nice motor, I hope you have many years of hassle free motoring.

Hi there.

I have a yellow Vrs and have the same thing with mine and the roof spoiler too, when I looked into it doesnt seem to be cause it has been resprayed but more to the point that those items were never clear coated and the paint as gone flat and faded. Lack of clear coat to protect from the UV.

I have tried to polish mine back but like yours its just too far gone, so no mate your not alone.

I bet if you tried a small amount of tee cut on a bit of that lower bumber that the yellow would transfer showing you that there is no clear coat presant.

If you get a price to have that resprayed can you let us know how much.

My yellow fabia is exactly the same, Bottom half of the rear bumper looks pale, along with the petrol flap and spoiler..

thanks for the feedback guys, from what you other fabia's are saying it seems to make sense, i will get a price this week sometime, i will get the whole rear bumper done just to make sure its right, but im guessing i need to stress to the paint man to do the clear coat at the end?

Mine is exactly the same mate, that is when you can see the rear bumper under all the soot . :)

yeah same with mine aswell....not going to bother spraying it though as the cars paint is origional from new....mines just a slight off shade of yellow and when you polish it it comes up like the rest

When I had my Lemon Fabia Vrs I had the same problem mainly on the Petrol Filler Flap and lower rear bumper. I was told by a paint/body shop that it's caused because the parts are plastic and if I recall something to do with the primer under the paint which I understand it's white. I don't think the Paint can be cured properly at high temperature because of the plastic parts. I know all other Furbie Vrs have the same plastic parts but because they are a different colour they don't show up as much....................." Does that make sense "

Yes that seems to make sense to me, il see what the guy says about it to see if he can sort it, i know some people wouldnt want to change the original paint, but it stands out too much to me.

I did polish it using super resin polish, but didnt really change it, just made it a shiny different yellow, he he

I must say mine is the same, i too have heard that it is because the panels are plastic that they take the paint differently but as mentioned previously because these plastic bits have no clearcoat on and if you t-cut / compound them you get the colour transfer - maybe they used a different paint system for the plastic panels?. I had my chrome grille colour coded by a body shop and that matches the rest of the bodywork but it is slightly different shade of yellow to the bumpers.

Nice to see another yellow vrs around Huddersfield

the same here with different colour of a rear spoiler

The plastic on the yellow seems to fade, hence the new Brighter yellow VAG colour

if the paint has oxidised, can you not just mop it with a fairly aggressive cutting compuound? if you're planning on getting it resprayed anyway, you've got nothing to loose...

Nice looking car mate.

elbow grease

get someone to lend you a polisher and some pads some light cut polish like mequires #80 or #83 and give it a go the paint cant be oxidised on that aged car beyond repairing

its down to the high pigment levels, like red cars. bright coloured cars are prone to sun damage. best thing is to keep it clean waxed, polished etc. there are speical coats you can apply to keep it more durable. plastic painted parts are quicker to fade than metal body work also...:(

This is Normal with the Yellow and all other cars and colours The Plastics fade differently to the Metal bits.

Luckily someone drove into the back of me the other month so I had a free respray of the back bumper and it looks like new again :D
