Blackberry hmmmm

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm considering getting a blackberry 8310 on 02 tommorow. I'm just wondering if anyone has one and how they rate it?

I run my own web hosting company and therefore get quite a few emails and do use the net quite a bit. I also text a lot.

I've got an N95 with T-Mobile, but the Blackberry in Red is very tempting....

My mate has his own business and has a Crackberry. Not sure if it is that exact model but he wouldn't be without it.

I've used a cackberry when I was a field service engineer

Very useful tool for getting email on the go.

Dunno how the new ones are for mobile web but tapping a text or anything was painless on the one I had with a full querty keyboard.

One of our family friends has one and its really swish.

They aren't Cack, just called it the cackberry to keep with the renamings!!

Been using one for about 5 years. Great device for business however it's a bit of a ball and chain.

i have a blackberry 8310 curve from vodafone and i cant fault it . Its great for email on the move and sends and recieves attachment's easily too . Texting is simple to thanks to the qwerty keypad . It has built in gps too as mine came with vodafone sat nav which comes in handy when im lost  . The camera takes a decent picture even if it is only 2mp .. just make sure you get a decent data plan for emailing and get a good text bundle:thumbup:

I got it. I have found however that when people send me video MMS I get sound but no video...they are just videos made on a mobile. I even sent one from my N95 to the 'berry but I got sound and no image...

Any thoughts?

i think it might be down to the way the video is encoded not 100% sure though

I have a blackberyy pearl - its awesome...linked ot my companies mail servers via BES

if you want something a bit more stylish why not wait for the next iphone upgrade?

I was considering an iPhone as my next mobile but its not really suitable for my kind of work . I would have killed it within the week . I'm holding out for the new blackberry bold which should be great

till they add push support to talk to exchange without their own extra server they are a waste of time imho.

Having just setup a MS exchange to blackberry setup, I can say that the extra servers needed to make blackberrys work is a right pain.

From what I can workout, our exchange server now passes data between itself and a server run by blackberry, which in turn sends out the emails. Blackberry process all the email handling as an intermediate point in the chain. MS exchange can do all this built in with no need for any other servers, but you need to have a MS activesync compatible device.

The blackberry client which needs to run on the exchange server was a pain to install and setup properly, it took 3 install/uninstalls using various options/users before I could get it to authorise blackberrys to users mailboxes. The support from vodafone was interesting to say the least.

you can run a BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) yourself, it does not have to go via Blackberry controlled physical servers

BlackBerry - BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange

when I say "yourself" this is most likely to be your company rather than you personally at home!
