New Fabia 1.4 TDI first service

Featured Replies

Got my brand new Fabia a few days ago, and am off to France at the end of next week. The handbook makes no mention, that I can find, of when the first service is due, other than the normal servicing interval.

Can I assume from this that there is no requirement for an oil and filter change after the first 500/1000 miles like there used to be in the old days? Or should I do one myself anyway before I do to France as I will have done at least 500 miles by then, to be sure, as I intend keeping this car for some years.

Nothing required until 10k. I'm sure I read in a motoring magazine that it is better for your engine not to do an oil change after 1,000 miles.

Enjoy your trip!

I read the same thing on Honest John. People may or may not agree with this but here's the article. Bear in mind a PD diesel doesn't rev as high as most modern ones!

At my age I cannot rely on remembering all that seems just keep around 3500 rpm and you cannot go far wrong.

thanks folks. So it's off to Le Mans without worrying it will go bang!

I am sure 10,000 miles will soon come around and then you will be asking why it costs so much just to change the oil and filters.

I used to run my Superb 1.9 TDI , 12000 miles between oil changes--- Correct oil -Fully synthetic--no probs!!

Just had a quote for the first 10,000 mile service for my 1.4tdi from Dealers in Newcastle and was suprised at the £76 quote. How does this compare with the rest of the UK

Put it this way paid £207 for 10k and £250 for 20k ar Robert Bamford near Gloucester. Not wishing to point out the obvious but there is a huge price difference! Am interested to know if I've been charged significantly more than the 'going rate'.

I thought all Skoda servicing was the same price where ever you went.

I was expecting £170 ish, but the guy said that would be the price for 20k service. Maybe it's us poor Northerners

It would be worth driving up north just to get it cheaper. Unless there is a catch somewhere.

I ve booked the Fabia in for Tuesday at the Skoda dealers in Newcastle. I asked again when booking what the price would be and was told the same price again. The Guy said it is just a basic Oil and filter change at 10k, with a once over the car.

May I humbly suggest that you try Webster's garage in Weatherfield ,Manchester. The proprietor needs the business due to a hostile take over bid.

Had my Fabia in today the 10k service done and all for £77. How much are other people paying?

£77!! That's amazing value for money, I think a Fabia TDi 10k service with our service dept usually works out to £130.

Interesting. Just had the first service their last week and it cost £99 inclusive of VAT.

Ii have just been quoted £175 for the first service at fish brothers in Swindon. Off to gloucester for me i think.

Was that for a TDI?

Was that for a TDI?

Yep for the Fabia 2 1.4 TDi.

I just queried the price in Swindon, it has been changed to £90 inc vat.

That is before they have even seen your car and then identify other items that may require attention? It concerns me that there are such large fiscal differences on this thread.

Just rang around for mine, varied from £150 to £90

HZ123 - you and me both!

Here is a breakdown for the services:

10k - Nov 2007

Oil Filter - £5.35

Sump plug - £0.99

Screen washer fluid - £1.69

PD Oil - £52.65 (this is a qty of 4.5)

Consumables - £4.50

Labour - £111.20

20k - May 2008

Oil Filter - £5.35

Sump plug - £1.38 (that's inflation for you!)

Screen washer fluid - £1.69

PD Oil - £52.65 (this is a qty of 4.5)

Pollen Filter - £11.00

Consumables - £4.95

Labour - £139.00

£111.20 for the 10k service looks exorbitant.
