New Fabia 1.4 TDI first service

Featured Replies

I got my refund today from Norman Fairweather Motors. That brings the cost of the service down to £78! The service manager was very apologetic - they had been confused by the menu pricing sheet they got from Skoda UK. They have apparently been supplied with an updated servicing menu for the Fabia II which states the required work schedules more clearly.

Much thanks has to go to Adrian for being the link with Skoda UK. I suppose it must help being a motoring jounalist when pursuing an issue!

A little update on this - had 'forgotten' to chase up with Robert Bamford but having just had the 30,000 mile service done prompted me to do so. Apparently they've sent a cheuqe (which I didn't receive) out to me - they are now going to re-send this so hopefully it will reach me this time around!

As for the 30,000 mile service then the cost came to £82.13 and was carried out by Grey Gables (Witney). Can't fault them - excellent customer service and a warning that it is a big service at 40,000...best get saving!

I have a Fabia 2 1.4 tdi (80) which has covered 9400 miles since purchase in April this year. From the service book it states that all that is needed is an oil change. I have contacted most of the dealers in my area and some from outside and have been quoted between £120 and £190 for this oil and filter change. When challenged over the price I was informed by all the dealers that the car is also checked over. I do not want this extra work carried out until the 20000 mile inspection service as per service booklet. None of the dealers were prepared to adjust their price accordingly and one dealer refused to even carry out a basic oil and filter change. It seems to me that all the dealers I have contacted want to include the inspection service as standard as well as the oil service even though it is not necessary.

I have read the previous comments in this thread and it appears that dealer service departments are still refusing to carry out only the necessary service.

Looks like I am off to Halfords service centre!!

Dusty; has the message re service actually come up on the maxidot. The only reason I ask is that my !.4TDI is 16months old albeit with 5000 + miles, when I activate the buttons it tells me that the service is still not required until 8000 miles. Does your vehicle actually require the service yet as though you have achieved the mileage you may be able to delay it? That aside I agree it is far to expensive for 30 minutes work.

Hi HZ123

Each time I switch on the ignition a bell sounds and the spanner symbol appears on the display and then INSP appears. If I hold the reset button for 3 seconds the display shows -400 and then -4

I think that may mean you are 400 miles overdue for the service then. that is how it used to work on my Merc and my wifes Cooper. The New Year will do fine. i am sure someone will confirm this. Merry Xmas!
