The part sits along under the steering column. There is a plastic screw there and also one in the end of the footrest - Remove both of them.

Next you need to push the foot rest up towards the underside of the dashboard to release it from it's fixings which are behind it.

Hi Al, they arrived this morning very pleased with the quality spot on and fast delivery thanks again.

I installed mine today. It was a royal pain the a55 removing the footrest from the car. The fixing on the footrest itself uses an expanding plastic socket, which when its expanded the bolt cant bite onto it's thread  so I yanked the f*cker out.

Anyway, here are the pics of my installation:

Nice work mate.

Surprised you thought the footrest was difficult, once I'd worked it out it's a doddle.

Cheers.

Wouldn't say it was that difficult. It was just a faff because the screw on the side of the footrest kept turning but not coming out due to the expanding socket plus its a little awkward under there.

Very nice

Very nice Job Harry - what have you used for the coloured inserts. I tried some plastic file dividers from the stationery cupboard but it just looked naff so binned it. Yours are top banana.

Also what are people using to fix the seat handle inserts in place? Thought about super glue as it seems to bond anything to everything but not sure on the longevity of it?

And not forgetting AL - received mine on Saturday too, many thanks top quality products. Whats next? Some nice stainless climatronic control knob dial rings? ;)

Thanks.

I used some old vRS stickers that I had knocking about, so the colours were a perfect match.

What I did was cut the different coloured parts of the stickers to the correct shape, then I stuck them onto a piece of very thin card.

To fix the inserts in place, I used the 1mm adhesive pads you use for attatching number plates as they're extremely strong.

It took a bit of time to cut the coloured parts properly so that the colours didn't overlap each section of the cutouts. But it was well worth the effort as it makes it stand out and looks a lot nicer. I decided to have the RS in white as the grey looked too bland.

Hope that helps.

Great help Harry, thanks. Off to halfrauds right now to get some sticky pads!

Ah you see,the VAG group brains show thru yet again.Nice work harry on thinking of the stickers over some card.Using 1mm pad for sticking em down I dunno might be a touch too much.Does the metal overlap the plastic?.I made the inserts 1.5mm thick with the VW inlay been 1.7mm.Using some thin card for colour and double sided tape the stuff used for carpets,(very thin) this was ideal..But once again very nice job on the customisation..Benchmark!!

As for other stuff, just sorting out the Golf MKIV..pedals and sills made and in the donor car.only thing is the golfgti forum is down so no pics..

Seat logo design complete and looking for a donor. Audi and cupra R on the drawing stage.

Cheers Stu for setting this off.I dont tout for business I work off recommendations so thanks for that.
