Vrs versus Sport

 Nothing wrong with a dirty diesel if that's what you want/need... A remap will never ever make it sound as good..:P and once you remap the petrol as well it'll be even further ahead :P:D and you'll of spent less.

So does the 2.0FSI in the sport sound as bad as the 2.0FSI in the VW Eos? As I heard one and could of sworn it was a diesel till I saw the badge on the back.:eek:

Philistine!

Diesels sound and smell much better than petrols!

Really, some people, give them a keyboard and they'll tell you their opinion.

Quite right. It's a better car to drive, but perhaps if I'm honest I prefer the styling of the Mk1, especially the vRS - it's a lot more aggressive than the mk2.

lol, Im just kidding Steve

I loved my mk1, cracking cars

Anyway back to the theme that Sports are amazing ...

I've been off roading in mine & why would anyone buy a Scout?

I towed 4 horse boxes chained together up a muddy 1:3 hill

& overtook a VRS (on a nearby road) whilst doing so.

Now, if there had been a MK1 Sport that would have managed 8 horse boxes.

I do prefer the front end of the Mk1, its more square, more aggressive.

However, let's face it - most people are looking at the back of the car, not the front. ;)

Must have been one of those petrol VRS's, my smelly old VRS diesel towed your aforementioned 8 horseboxes up that 1:3 hill and overtook one of those Sport thingys doing so (wasn't yours was it???):P:rofl::D:D:D

My Sport TDI is the Bee knee's. Black, 140 bhp standard, now up'd to 177bhp with re-map. Goes like hell yet still over a tank averages 43.9 mpg. (no b.s) Will cruise all day at 100mph and pull's throught he gears with ease. it has the esp thingy which did save me once. I've done the Full VRS spoilers front and rear, 18" Zeniths, Painted the Calipers and painted the side strips and added Zenons. other than the seats it's the same (albeit not fully under the bonnet). So all in all a good buy. Got it new in 05 just coming up to end of 3 years now. Needs a new turbo at dealer due to that Whirring siren sound but thats good as under warranty. In today in Leeds for a wheel bearing. No issues other than that in three years. Done 55,000 miles including many in the forests following rallies. Maybe in the future a VRS interior will come up but to be honest the Fabis VRS i had got mucky due the mud and dust from following the rallies so i'm not that bothered. Would be nice to have the steering wheel bits and pieces but really its not that difficult to alter the radio by touching it? externally you cannot tell. even badged up as a VRS, and before you all say "Wannabe" they didn't do the TDI VRS when i bought mine...Sport was the best buy at the time.

Wannabee!

:sofahide:

Sorry, couldn't help myself

vRS badges on a sport = Wannabee!! :P

Sport badges on a vRS = straight jacket :P

I was taking it steady, I didn't want to frighten the horses.

Still at least someone saw me, I was beginning to think people would doubt my claims.

Be interested to see if they replace your turbo under warranty if you've had it remapped.

Sport badges on a vRS = straight jacket :P

they stopped making sport badges 2 years ago so i found out when i went to buy mine, i could make you one with sticky back plastic ;)

So I take it we're all agreed the VRS is better than the Sport then?

Could you do one for me please, I could put it on my exhaust :)

Turbo being replaced under warrentry after a remap? Better haope they dont check the flash counter as you may run into problems mate.

Not if you want a no turbo petrol motor with a few sporty touches

To be fair I think that's quite poor... my Dad had a 2.0TDI DSG Touran that has been remapped to a similar level as yours, he dosen't hang around yet gets 48-50mpg....

For info. he also admits my standard TFSI VRS is far quicker

Mine does this. Does that mean the turbo's fecked as my warrenty runs out next month!

My pennies worth. Love my sport but I still wish I'd got a vrs! Sorry sport lovers!
