Secondary air pump rubber mounts

Featured Replies

One of the three rubber mounting things that are between the pump and the ring-shaped bracket have pulled away from the pump on my car.

(See attachment)

It looks like the threaded end is set within the rubber mounting, which is bonded to the pump casing. But I hope I'm wrong.

How can I fix this? Anyone else had this issue?

It's hanging there on the 2 remaining mounts, but it's only a matter of time before they go too now i guess.

Suppose i could try glueing the rubber bit back onto the casing, but im not a fan of glue.

Any ideas would be very welcome, as i dont want to buy a new pump obviously and i dont want it falling off when im driving!

Cheers.

OK, I've been down to see the very helpful Skoda man and checked out the exploded part diagrams. The good news is that the rubber mounts are available separately.

But his system lists pump 078 906 601M for my engine (AUQ), which appears to have the wrong mount type (with a bolt going through the bracket into the mount, rather than a threaded stud in the mount and a nut on the outside of the bracket as above). The other Octavia pump for 1.6 and 2.0 engines, looks exactly right, with part number 06A 959 253E. The mounts on that one look identical to mine.

So can anyone tell me what secondary air pump part number my car should have ('02 Octy RS hatch).

I'm happy that I can replace the mounts, but now I'm confused about what pump I have!

Anyone know?

Yeah my pump is identical to that one. Can anyone confirm it's part number before i waste my money on the wrong parts though please?!

Vagcat shows part no. 078906601D for AUQ engine

Had a good look at the pump this weekend, while I had the car apart!

As said, part number is 078 906 601 D. So that's all right.

Guess the EKTA thing must be mistaken, as it shows different mounts for my car.

I'll have to order the mounts listed for 1.6/2.0 models, as they are correct for my car. (see photo).

Odd.

This was an interesting thread, as one of my mounts has detached from the pump. Tired to bond it, but not happy with the result and wasn't sure how the rubber mounts should attach to the pump? Are they bonded, as i was looking at a new pump and they do not appear to have the mounts, so i assume that these have to be bought separately and that they screw into the pump mounting points?

Old thread this one!

I did actually buy 3 new rubber mounts in the end, and they were the right ones. The mounts screw into the pump body, and are not bonded to it. I can try and dig out the part number if you want?

part number 037 133 567 F £7.83+vat each

Damn for that price i better buy some, don't really have an excuse for using cable ties now :giggle:

Thanks all. Paid £8.50 incl VAT at local Skoda dealer. I bought 2, because i know one is broken and sods law at least one of the others will be in bad shape too. I suppose i may aswell get the third while i'm at it.

I found a similar issue the other day so i took off the broken one and got the part number off that, went to my Seat dealer and ordered them from there. Nearly had a heart attack when he told me they were £9 each inc vat!! £28 for three bits of threaded rubber mounting :(

Fitted new mounts and pump today. Used this guide

http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/p/141240/940861.aspx

Guide is spot on, except the suggested tool to remove the bracket bolts didn't work for me as the bolts were on really tight and so needed additional leverage.

Decided to replace rather than try and repair and manged to get a new pump for £99 here

I realise a repair may have sufficed, but this isn't a nice DIY job, so only wanted to do it once. Bracket bolts are pretty hard to get to and remove, (whilst having bits of dirt drop down on your face every few seconds is annoying at the very least).

Will post later to give my verdict on the difference when driving.

Yeah I picked up a new Forge combi valve blanking plate last week for £10, so I'll be removing mine this summer hopefully.

Shark will map out the SAI pump and N112, so that side of things is covered for me.

I'm trying to think of an elegant way of sealing/removing the hole in the airbox now.

I won't be throwing away the pump or any of the bits, because it all still works fine. I'll just clean up the pump and replace the rivets with bolts, so it's ready to be used or sold on. Nobody has been able to answer my questions about the VVT, and if it still runs massive overlap with the pump removed, so I'll hang onto the pump and see how the cat gets on without it. Here's my question: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/166338-cat-fast-warmup-cycle-removal/

I'm thinking it will be fine...

Starter motor last week, secondary pump this week. Car now starts and drives like a new car, without any annoying rattling or diesel engine sounds.
