Anyone else here had a problem with non starting on there diesels. My sdi needed a Fuel control relay fitted at about 1 year old and again three weeks ago (1 Day before end of warranty period) but again this morning the problem has returned and another new relay has failed to cure it this time.

Symptom is when ignition is switched on there is a rapid clicking from the relay and as you attempt to start the car the fuel glow plug light flashes.

Towing the car for a mile you can get it to eventually start and the fuel glow plug light then flashes while the engine is running.

I have had a fuel control/pump relay fault on 2 VW Transporters, an Octy tdi 90, and know of at least 1 freind who has had same problem only not sure which VW lump he has. I think its just a weakness in VW engine electrics, which has never been addressed.
