Damn- beat me to it.

And me...

Which way is the swap as that could be a very bad deal :(

Sounds like a good swap, got any pics?

Haha! Exactly what I thought when I read the title! lol!

My opinion of the 1.4tdi was that it was ok, but nothing special. It seemed especially slow below 2000rpm (turbo lag was IMO terrible) but above that it was reasonably nippy. I preferred the power delivery, even though there was less power to be delivered, of the SDI that I owned. It was so much smoother, and torquier low down... :)

In fact if you can find an SDI (I think they stopped offering the SDI engine in 2004) then I rate that engine very highly, as do a lot of other people. The only thing that it really lacks is power, but that doesn't always matter when choosing a car :). I think it's fairly safe to say that the SDI is about 5-10% more economical than the 1.4TDI as well, it's almost impossible to make it do less than 50mpg.

Doesn't have a turbo to blow either :D

What ever you do, DON'T buy her a Fabia 1.4 PETROL!!! (Unless of course you're looking for a quick way to break up with her..... :-))

Absolutely NO GUTS whatsoever; you ALWAYS have to shut off the A/C EVERY TIME you need to climb a hill from dead stop. NUMEROUS other problems as well!!
