Some nice Lady Ran into my car :(

Featured Replies

As the title says. How gutted.

Was driving down a country lane to a field where i fly my Model helicopter, saw the lady coming the other way in her MK3 Astra so slowed and moved over so we could pass each other. She seemed to make no effort to slow and at the last second she spotted me, chucked the brakes on and slid all down my side :(

We were both okay and i think the damage is repairable but its just the hastle of it all. My insurance company (Highway, via Adrian Flux) have been very good and i had a courtosy car by 11am on Friday (accident happened at 6pm on Thursday). I got a letter on saturday from her insurance company claiming it was my fault  I cant believe to describe how gutted that made me feel.

Thank fully i had all mods declared and was covered with a like for like replacement policy, so if one of my mods gets damaged, they replace with the same and not back to standard. Only problem is the BBS no longer make my wheels so i cant buy another one, what do they do in that instance? I love those wheels and am more annoyed at that than anything else. Grrr......

Any hoo, Rant over, lol. Cheers for listening. Heres some pictures.

I really don't think the blame will be pinned on you are your car is clearly off the road and you can see her skid marks right up the middle of the road!! Make sure you give the insurance company those snaps. Just shows you should always have a camera in the car for this sort of thing.

Yeah, gotta love camera phones :)

Its done the bumper, Wing, bonnet, drivers door, (somehow missed the rear door), rear quarter, suspension leg (H&R), wish bone and wheel. Thats all i can see so far buts its off to the garage tonight full a full report and quote.

What a pain tho. I have a really nice Mondeo as a courtosy car now. Brand spanker 2.0 Diesel. Nice... lol

Me too mate. Just a real pain :(

On the plus side, its nice to get 50mpg on the run to work and not the normal 22, lol

I feel for you, hope it is sorted soon :)

:(:(:(:(

I think the skid marks in the photo speaks for themselves .

Are you going to claim for the loss of your lower right leg as well.;)

strange... all the pictures show up here as red crosses :-(

She's just trying it on! Those skid marks prove it was her fault! You can even see the point of impact by her sudden change of direction! That shows clearly that you had pulled right over.

Then there's the other skid mark right over that poor bloke's head:D

Nice courtesy car btw! Last time I had a car in the body shop I got a 1.0 Micra - what was worst was that it had no "Bloggos Body Shop Courtesy Car" stickers, so people thought it was mine

Yeah I wouldn't worry about that letter from her insurers, they're just trying it on to see if your a pushover. Cheeky gits!

It's pretty clear that it was her fault from the photos, and having the coppers there will have helped things.

Just make sure you don't back down mate.

It's sad to see a car down in it's prime, but at least she's repairable. Good luck with it

Yeah i know :) - So pleased i took the photo :)

Good advise to anyone.

Those photos don't leave much room for debate.

It shows she skidded to a halt using you for extra braking.

I wouldn't worry too much

Bummer. She must have been daydreaming not to see your car. She should have tried to evade things of to the hedge side...

Thank goodness you got all the pics and are fine.

Use my car as a brake, lol, thats what the Toyota is in front for i thought, ha ha.

As yet the insurance company have not asked to see the photos. Best keep em safe for when they do :)

Does anyone know what happens in the case where we cant get hold of another wheel? Will they replace all 4 with a set of equal value? or will they give me the value of 1 replacment? Which would be of no use :( Im not sure as to what the procedure is.

They would have to supply you with 4 equivalent wheels of a similar design and specification.

This is probably the worst catastrophe to hit you in recent time but to the insurance company it's just another routine minor shunt. Don't wait until they ask for photos - send 'em ASAP - is there a claim form to fill in or was it done over the phone?

When you fill in the "any injuries" bit of the form then don't say "None" - say "none yet apparent" or words to that effect.

Until I got rear ended a few years ago I thought whiplash was a mythical injury to fiddle compo out of the insurance company. About a week after, I started to get stiffness in my neck that lasted for 2 years - cost of physio and compensation all went into the claim.

Hope it gets sorted for you mate, I am currently going through insurance hassels after i was in an accident but the problem i have is i didnt take pics at the scene and they have made their car worse than what it was at the scene.

Leat you got some pics taken at the scene mate.

Keep us updated.

Ouch m8, so sorry to hear, stupid woman by the sounds of it, how could she not have seen judging by the photos!

Get all info off to the insurers asap dont leave any room for error!

Least its repairable and as for the courtesy car . . . . . suppose it could have been a lot worse, most only get a Ka or simillar lol

Thats true. My claim was put accross via the phone so will send the pictures off with the claims form (its in the post im told) so at least they have them.

The bumper needed a respray because of stone chips but this was not the way i had planned on getting it done.

I am on the hunt for a new wheel so hopefully i can find one or choose something else from the new BBS range i guess.

Cheers for the support.

Regards

Garry

Oh damn sorry to see this.I hope you get it sorted quickly and hassle free:thumbup:

Damn! what a mess, sorry to see it mate even the dog looks slightly annoyed.

There are some crazy drivers about, someone bumped my rear bumper at a roundabout last week, no damage thank god.
