Weird - looks like a vRS but isn't quite!

Featured Replies

Looks like an Ambiante that's had a VRS body kit fitted.

the tyres look a bit big for a vrs?? also does a vrs have black side stripes? thought they be colour coded?? no vrs badge on the grill and nothing inside to say vrs either??

Yeah it's not a vRS but has been made to look a bit like one.

Tyres look okay to me but the suspension is higher.

The Mk1 vRS has black side strips - the Mk2 has them colour coded

Looks like an Elegance (seats and centre arm rest, although does have manual aircon) with a body kit from the Skoda accessory catalogue and some vRS wheels.

What's the point? Same engine as a vRS but not as nice inside.

And insurance here is cheap (and not compulsory)

I have recently got myself a 1.8T Elegance here in nz, couldnt find a RS at the time of purchase so got 2nd best (needed car fairly quickly for transport after someone boofed my alfa 33), mines manual got cruise, climatronic etc, and i just priced up the wheels and body kit comes to about $3000 for the 16" rs wheels, front and rear skirts and boot spoiler, not a bad price really (bmw accessorys a bit more pricey!!) I dont think insurance in nz is cheap! well it wasnt untill i turned 25 haha,

How strange. not a bad effort though.

They're not even vRS bumpers are they!? If you look it like there are peices over the standard bumpers to make them look like vRS one. I think old people like to call them 'skirts'!!

yup skirts on the car and the spoilers wrong.

that looks naut like the vRS,

too high off ground, the front bumper is totaly diff, and the rear spoiler is wrong too, plus quite a few other things, tis either that or a classic, if that is what it is called, i cant remember what it says on the sticker on the top of the front wings.

oh well

Here are the spoilers from the accessory catalogue;

As far As I can make out. I tried doing an insurance quote for this car and it isn't a VRS as it states in the adverts text. I wouldn't even let my put 2004 and Octavia in the same quote. It must be a 2003 Octavia WAGON?

Aussies and Yanks do funny things to their cars anyway. I think this is more like and SLX with the 1.8T engine and a few extras from the sales brouchure. It is a hotch-potch because of the interior spec?

I've had trouble with some NZ insurance companies. The AA's system didn't have Skoda in there at all the first time I called them two years ago, "Is that a Holden?" the guy said.

Aussies are weird :D - but this is NZ - it is different you know :P

I know they're Skoda parts, but it looks like a motorworld accident to me. The wheels look like they could be 16inch.

The advert doesn't say it is a vRS or did I miss something?

It definitely doesn't say it's a vRS.

I said it looked a bit like one.

so it's a "normal" 1.8T Octavia bought by the parts manager of a dealer with some cheap(?) options and vRS wheels added? what's the big hoo-haa

Yep.In fact they look tiny!

You don't have to have Car Insurance...

Sorry you right! Aussies aren't Kiwis -

Aussies are Kiwis that can play guitars.

Aussies are Kiwis that can't play Rugby.

Brits are just bloody bad at everything invented (General industry, politics, including foreign policy, making cars Football, Cricket, Rugby with the exception of winning the Rugga Wold Cup of Course..what a fluke & absolutely everything else)

Ha Ha

You all know what I mean about some of the junk the Americans produce and they sent they pathetic excuses of cars to Oceana Continent for them to wreck even more. Decent cars can only be made here on Mainland Europe (Can't they?)

Nope. And you can drive at 15 - unaccompanied at 16

So we get 16 year-olds driving old Impreza Turbos, uninsured.
