skoda octavia central locking

Featured Replies

hi... my skoda is in average cond... but its central locking has somehow stopped functioning now.... it opens and locks manually but the central lock remote has stped working... the red lights blinks on the remote ehich confirms that the remote is in good condition... i went to a skoda dealer to get it fixed so they told me it will need a new central locking console as they could not code or program the key.... they did not why and the new part will take about 3 weeks to be in stock... haha 3 weeks??? is there any alternative to make it function...:thumbup::D

It central locks on the key, and the remote is ok, yes?

I'd suspect the receiver unit then. Not familiar with what's meant by the "cl console".

yes locks on the key..and the remote is allgud bro allgud..

oops...the console refers to the part that controls all the locking and windows closing system. hope this helps

They say 3 weeks to cover there butts! i just ordered a couple of trim items ex czech from nz and they took about 10 days ish, i would say its the control unit/reciever that they have said needs replacing :D

To summarise, the remote locking is not working and the remote will not code to the convenience control unit (CCU).

It seems a bit odd to me that the garage want to replace the more expensive CCU first, unless of course they have already tried another remote control.

Do all the other functions of the CCU work, locks, mirrors, interior lights, windows and total window open/closure through the key in the lock. Does the radio turn off when the key is removed from the ignition?

hi .... had taken my car to the dealer today.. it need the ccu as they cant program the key ...but otherwise everything else works allright... and the stereo cuts off when the key is pulled out and yup all works manually...

is there any other cheaper alternative to make it work??

I think FordFan and I are both suspicious of the fact that the garage seem to have gone straight to the most expensive part of the system.

I have the same thing and was told it was the central convenience unit that had gone and that its not a cheap fix circa £200 for an electrics box.

so im planning when i get a chance to wip off the door cover and have a look myself.

Hate to say this, but seems to be the case when fixing cars nowadays :( Parts fitters instead of trying to fix things, tho when you own old obsolete cars you get used to fixing/modifying/retrofitting bits and bobs to fix things :P

I'm going to look at a 2001 octavia tomorrow hopefully. Have spoke to the owner and all seems fine (long MoT and recent sevice etc) except he says the remote central locking does not work. You have to put the key in the door to activate the central locking.

I presume best case scenario is new batteries in key fobs but unlikely for both not to be working. Is worst case scenario the 'Central Convenience Unit' needs replacing and is that about £200 plus fitting. Also any other faults that maybe causing this problem?
