Superb soiled already

Featured Replies

The car has done almost 500 miles already since delivery on Thursday. It is also sporting it's first stone chip. It's not massive, but it is far bigger than any of the chips that the bonnet of my old Passat had in 61,500 miles and 3 years! :(

The road had been re-surfaced, and was full of loose stone chippings - I had managed to negotiate 5 miles of it without incident - just as I was leaving the re-surfaced road to normal tarmac - a big Audi Estate came flying into the start of the loose surface. I heard it hitting hard, though had thought it had hit the glass.

Can't complain I suppose - I know of people writing their cars off on the first day!

Just hope I don't get too many more chips!

Invest in a paint stick, it makes you feel heaps better when your able to touch them up so they dont notice.

Damn fine idea :) I'll get one from the Liverpool Skoda dealership this week.

Has so far been more than helpful to me..my paint stick. Benefits are its a perfect paint match, I just dont use the laquer.

Why not use the laquer?

Because it doesnt sit right, and spoils the colour match.

It is also very thick and is very hard to use.

Just the paint stick is all I use, and you cant tell.

Bad luck most things happen when cars are new for some reason, a week ago I drove on a just resurfaced road in Denmark for bout 10 miles , it apeared that they used very fine sharp stones, although I drove slowly I thought it would be ok especially with mud flaps fitted , the front part of the sill and the bottom of the flont and back passenger doors are now pitted  - I may well have to get the parts resprayed.

I was dreiving in France last year in my 3 week old Alhambra - I went to overtake a large lorry at about 80 mph and got sandblasted by a shower of wheat grains from the lorry - I later noticed that they should have a cover over the top to stop this happening! When I got out of the car I feared the worse, but luckily there were only two small marks.

I've not come accross these paint sticks - I presume they are like a wax crayon - I wonder if SEAT do them, they didn't mention them when I ordered some touch up last week.

Nope, it will be a tube of paint with a little brush that is attatched to the cap.A visit to your dealers parts department, along with knowing what paint code you need will get you the paint stick, which will be a 2 tube kit if you have metallic....the paint and a laquer.

NB..and seeing as your car is VAG, your dealer will definately have it/be able to get it for you.

My lacquer is thick and gooey too and unusable - I assumed I had an old batch but maybe it's all like that ...
