Lowering pickup.

Featured Replies

Hi, i've been searching through the threads about lowering. I see that people are saying you need felicia front springs and mk4 golf gti springs to lower the rear.

Is this true for my favorit pickup.

Also, i've found these: Jamex Springs & Kits transparent.gifJX-120178 transparent.gifJamex Springs transparent.gifFavorit / Forman 1.3 02/89>09/94 40mm

is this all i need to lower the car or do i need the golf springs too?

For your Favorit pickup I *think* those springs should be fine. I think the Golf suspension is on the Felicia pickups.

It says they are for Favorit/Forman. The Forman refers to the Estate version of the Favorit and the Forman and pickup share the same struts. The springs do have different part numbers but my guess is either the springs for the pickup are stronger (so care should be taken with heavy loads) or they are longer to prevent the back bottoming out with heavy loads. This just means either you should not carry heavy loads, or that your drop will be more than the specified 40mm.

If your bump stops are the 155mm long version (if they're the originals with the car they will probably have disintegrated a bit) and you don't fancy cutting the old ones you can get 120mm bump stops for the rear shocks (35mm shorter) with part number 6U0 512 131 and they're about £15 each at dealers. If the plastic boots are broken they're part number 6U0 513 423 and cost next to nothing. The top spring cups (6U0 512 113) and rubber washers (6U0 512 109) may also need replacing if rusted or split - which is quite likely if they've not been replaced in a long while, and again these don't cost much.

Thanks for the link to the springs, I'll have to add to my favourites in case I decide to lower mine in the future

cheers for the info.

The use of the mk4 golf springs on the rear is for the felicia , not the favorit pickups

A Favorit pickup is always a mk1 Favorit (Hence why they all have brown mk 1 interiors). The suspension on them originally were Mk1 Favorit Hatchback front and rear, however were changed to The Forman (estate car) variety shortly afterwards. They are all the same length but the rears are considerably stiffer. However on the pickup as long as you dont put much weight in the back I would stick with Hatchback springs to improve handling.

Ok, I rang MSW and they say jamex no longer do the proper pickup ones so i'll have to go with the hatch springs.

You guys go any gotr any tips on which shocks to go for? I'm going to change all the bumpstops, cups, bolts and rubbers etc, as well. I know jorily sells the standard shocks but i wanted some stiffers ones.
