Back in a skoda again

Featured Replies

Well after 2 years i am back in a skoda.

After 2 years of building a 20v mk2 golf i got board and wanted another project.

The old golf i got for £220 back in 2006 went to it's new home in wales on saturday.

The new motor i picked up last week.

Octy VRS mk1 2001 51 plate

2 owner from new both being local and second worked as a skoda tech at local dealer.

58k miles with FSH

Got it for £3990 inc 1 months warranty.

As clean as it came out of the factory

Some of you may remember my old octy vrs i had.

welcome back

A nice looking Octy you've picked up there, enjoy, again.

STUNNING Golf!

Congrats on the new motor, looks mint.

Your black Octy was THE car that inspired me to buy one and the Golf is awesome.

Cheers chissey sure my new octy will not remain standard for to long as it's only for weekends.

Golf was like a new car once i had finished and with 230bhp and no weight, did shock a lot of modern car drivers lol but once they are finished i get bored. Not happy unless i have it in pieces or tinkering under the bonnet.

Welcome back. Will never forget your black one.

Octy is looking a lot better now after replacing both skoda badges as they were turning white.

Removed the rear octavia and vrs badge's and put on some pressed metal plates.

Found a split boost hose so went the hole hog and put on some new hoses along with a bailey dv30. Boost gauge installed and plumbed in.

Front shocks are leaking slightly so coilovers next on the list.

Had a couple of people ask about the mk2 so full build thread is here all 39 pages :thumbup:Skint Autoverein -> My mk2 build thread

That Golf is just lovely, looked so 'right'. But I can understand you wanting to move onto something else.

The Octy looks like a great example and sounds like a good deal too. Where's it from originally, as DX is a Shewsbury identifier?

Nice looking Octy, interested in the boost guage where did you buy it from and any info on fitting would be helpfull:thumbup:

Thats immaculate. Nice motor, and the golfs smart to. Were you at GTI with it this year?

  • Author

I was at GTI inters with it this year.

Got busy with the octy again today. Fitted my RCA output cable from the standard head unit then fitted a connect 2 so i could play my ipod throught it as well.

Ended up removing the cup holder in the centre console and making it into a mount for the ipod.

Pictures are from my mobile so not the best.

My old black one is on car domain yes.

Got another filter waiting at my mates shop to put on the ebay cai pipe.

Suspension i have, just waiting for a new set of front inserts to arrive from germany. Wheels i am going for 18x9" all round so once the suspension is on i can take a wheel to try to work out the offsets i need to go with the 215/40/18 tyres. Not going with the norm this time. A bit of poke and stretch to fill the arch's nicely.

Looking forward to seeing it.

I now own your old Black Octavia. Its in Northern Ireland, has a single exhaust although I still have the twin exit, some CZ band pressed plates and a few more miles. Loving it

Welcome back Paul. The Golf looks good but boy the ride must have been harsh! :D

  • Author

The ride was spot on. The eibach pro street coilovers were the best coilovers i have ever had. Seriously thinking about putting them on the octy.

Turbo4ni that car i still wish i had not sold it. Was still like new when i sold it. Spent ages getting the mods sorted and playing with the twin exhaust design.

Had a bit of a let down from the wheel manufacturer. Not doing the offset i wanted now so unable to get the correct spacers to get the offset i need :thumbdwn: but i have found another set but got to try and get the correct adapters for a 18x10 et45 (to et15) rear and 18x8 et50 (to et25) front

How would you compare them to your old KW v1's you had on your black octy? I know its not a true comparision as both cars are very different. Infact not know why I'm asking.

  • Author

Hard to say realy as the mk2 had the eibach anti roll bars running the suspension almost all the way down and did not realy alter the ride quality but then again the kw's were all the way down on the rear of the octy and ride was superb.

Couple of updated pics as needed a couple of things replaced.

Back box was blowing so opted for a blueflame cat back exhaust.

Tyres started to crack so got a set of 18" RS6 wheels with tyres until i sort out the porsche wheels.

Fitted some Hertz components up front and Hertz 6x9's in the rear shelf this morning and sound if superb saying it's off the standard head unit. Got a Pheonix Gold 4 channel amp and a JL sub to fit tomorrow. Will get some pics when it's in.

Had an hour or so to play today.

I picked up some ABD front mount intercooler pipes off Trevor on here so gave them a good clean up. Sanded them down and painted them in Alu Galv spray to protect them.

Also picked up a new run around for my brother just need to get it cleaned up and the back lowered more.

Hopefully get the intercooler pipes fitted next weeked so i can sort out what size intercooler i need.

Lovin' that Passat! Ace

I've got a Laguna intercooler sitting here, if that might be any good to you? I know people seem to like using them for various applications on VAG stuff :) (not sure whether you're planning for the Octy or the Passat!)
