Boot Hooks on Octy MK1?

Featured Replies

I spent some time in a dealership the other day waiting for my car to be serviced (Octavia VRs MK1), and one of the things I really liked about the new Octavia were the fold up hooks in the boot.

I later discovered that these are sold as accessories, and I wonder whether they would fit in the MK1 nicely. Has anyone thought of/tried that?

It's also a Skoda patent and I believe Mercedes pay skoda for the privelege of fitting them on their cars :)

Wow - they would be perfect for takeaways, shopping bags etc. Any idea what they fit onto?

There are 2 plastic carpet screwy things in the MK1 boot, one on left, one on right. You could make a little hanger.

I hang things off mine now as they are. The smelly trees are attached to them in the pic:thumbup:

That's a good idea mluton, but the hooks are a lot more practical and should support more weight/larger items. I have no doubt that they would fit in the MK1, it's just a question of how much drilling is required :D and how much weight they would be able to support (the side plastic panels look quite sturdy, but I do not know if they have been reinforced in the MK2 to support extra weight).

Can I ask what that blue colar on top of the right net is? The metallic bracket supporting the net in my car has broken, and althought I've tried epoxy I couldn't reattach it (only one side stuck, and not too firmly either).

The blue thing is a savlon, emergency kit. LOL

I dont mean attached to the plastic panels I mean to the small carpet screws on the sides.

The ones in the Octy II are... which is why I always take the Octy to the curry house rather than the Fabia or MX5.

Yup, I know what you mean, I had a poke around that area last week. You can only attach small items to those though, the proper hooks I'm talking about are double sided, spring loaded so they fold up on release, and look sooo practical :(

I thought the blue top was like a collar that you attached to the net after losing the metallic bracket :), looks like a paper shredder top to me :D

That metallic bracket has holes on both sides so I'm considering drilling holes through the plastic too and attaching it with cable ties, but I'm a bit wary of drilling holes in me lovely, if nothing else I've only had her for a month and 2 days...

Indeed, the first thing to hang from those if/when I install them will be Al Karim's mixed kebub special (comes in a pizza box) :D
