Modified Grille

Featured Replies

some of it on the car

changed my mined to paint the silver bit, thought it would break up the front a bit.

oh n there is the new LCR splitter, I cut it and bent it right round the side of the bumper, looks bit more beefy i think

good job there claytarget!

Looks like you done a good job there Mr:thumbup:

cheers K.

took me bout 5 hr,

It is smooth all round too so it actually looks like its been molded on to fit the silver surround, the vRS badge was quite hard to get off,

when I stripped it down there are 3 peices, the one with the grill I got the angle grinder on and cut round the lip as you can see in the pic of what I cut out, that way the backing clips on to the front bit and give it the strength again.

I always used to think that a mesh grille was a chavvie mod

But looking at yours, speednut and jonnycatbiscuit efforts youve all used black powder coated fine mesh and it actually makes me want to do mine more and more!!

Looks really good

ive wanted to do it since about a month afer gettin the car,

saw a nice black furbi vRS on the A1 on my way home form catterick.

he had the same kinda thing but he had another badge in the place of the vRS one. looked ace, iff you board and got the time it only cost £23 for the mesh from halfords, ffew quid for the glue, T30 screwdriver iirc, and the angle grinder,

good luck if you do do it mate

billy

ive got sone halfords spray paint sposidly the same as my car colour, am gonna tape off a few bits behind the grill and spray the cross member? do you think it will be ok?

yeah just make sure you dont get any paint on your FMIC

I quite like the fact that you can see it by looking into the grille

yea i like that too, you can even see the forge stamped in to it lol

Ill post more pics when it is all painted, Might even put some up in the members cars bit too.

also Jonny has done it an easier way, by removing the skoda badge there is no masageing the mesh so it slightly bends to fit smoothly, only thing is filling the small hole at the top lol.

takes some doing, Glad I done it my self, it is the first bit of modding ive done that if i buggered it up there was no goin back. ;-)

i bet you'll have it done tomorrow

Yep did a bit of teasing and moulding needs a bit of patience but results well worth it:thumbup: Seems we are pioneering the diy grille mod along with catbiscuit:D
