Heres a pic of my homemade modified grille, I think it looks far better than the usual slats, £22 for the mesh from Halfords:thumbup:

I would watch what mesh you get from B&Q if you do. I got some a while back for an old car & it rusted within days because its indoor stuff. Just a heads up, IIRC Motorworld sell it cheaper than Halfords, however if your'e in Halfords may as well look at the 3 for 2 on cleaning producs:thumbup:

Hi Guys

The grille comes in 3 pieces ,the outer one is coloured to the car and is fixed by torx screws, the inner black slatted grille clips into this and the chrome surround with the skoda badge clips to it (in my case painted black).

The slatted component I discarded so you are just left with the chrome surround,the mesh I just attached with black silicon sealant to the inner edge.

You just have to cut the mesh to the exact size and trim off some of the raised plastic pieces on the surround.Where the badge sits to the mesh you have to widen the mesh holes so the plastic clip behind the badge mounting fit flush.

Not the best explanation:O but if you take the whole grille off it becomes self explanetry,the mesh from Halfords is powder coated black and is good quality.

The chrome surround I had repainted for £30.

Halfords don't ,mine was Ripspeed competition mesh in black but they also do it in aluminium and a larger mesh like on a Bently Continental in stainless steel.

Did mine too (but got rid of the Skoda badge while I was at it. (and I cut back the lip on the outer surround so the mesh overlaps)

Looking good just like twins:D, thought about getting rid of the badge bit wary bout damaging surround but looks like youv'e made a good job of it:thumbup:

I used Sikaflex - sticks anything to anything!

On a black car you should colour code the silver bit (IMO). If you get matt black mesh, go for a matt black surround for the stealth look...

can you get that from BnQ?
