How much to service a MK2

Featured Replies

I have just had my MK2 1.9 105 pd serviced at iml Plymouth, so how much should a service cost and how long should it take.

the following items where used.

Oil filter

sump plug washer

diesel cleaner

fuel filter

pollen filter

air filter

front BP

rear BP

drive shaft boot

LH mirror turn signal

longlife oil

total price for parts £191.73

labour charge £334.25  = 5 hours:confused: =£66.85 per hour:eek:

VAT £92.08

total £618.06

You've been done sir to the tune of at least £250 :thumbdwn:

I would suggest in future you agree a price before you go ahead with any servicing!

They also claimed that there is possibly a fault with the clutch or flywheel and it could cost around £800 to rectify it as i asked them to try and find out what the ticking noise was when at idle the noise is defo coming from the belt end not the gearbox end

I will be getting the belts and water pump changed at my local gararge and he has quoted £180 all in

Out of warranty I guess? my last 'long life' service on my 1.9 tdi 105 bhp was just over £200. The only differnce I see on your list are the brake pads, drive shaft boot and turn signal. I always ask for a price for the service and compare with other dealers first.

A standard variable service is likely to be anywhere between 180 and 240 depending on the dealer.

On top of that you've have brake pads all round and a drive shaft boot , but even so your total bill sounds pricey

i've just paid £170 to have my first service on my vRS at farmers in nottingham, a lot better than the £240 hayseldens in doncaster wanted off me!

My last Service at 56K was £200, the two before that were about £180 or so, to put that into context my 3 services (all variable big ones) have cost less than your single service. These are also main dealer prices, so it pays to shop around for servicing.

What was the LH mirror turn signal?

My vRS was about £200 for its first service.

My vRS was about £200 for its first service.

The left hand mirror indicator lens was cracked

these first services that everyone above has had are they the 20k long life service?

I have had two services on my 1.9 tdi 105bhp, both were variable at about 18k intervals, both just over £200.

Mine was at 64K as the service book was not up to date and i was taking no chances, the renault garage where I bought it said they had serviced it but it had not been done, it was to late in the day to argue so I made sure it was done as soon as

Any idea what diesel cleaner is?

Any idea what diesel cleaner is?

Probably a fuel system additive, easy mark up money

However I very much doubt its recomended by Skoda.
