car insurance on a fabia vrs

Featured Replies

I received my renewal through today from zurich. They have quoted me £750 for a year which is fully comp and includes nationwide breakdown recovery.

I am 30 years old and have no claims for 6 years. Have been driving since i was 18. Oh and i have 0 points on my licence

i phoned up zurich who i have been with for ten years and told them their renewal was a very high amount considering i'd got quotes from alliance and leicesterm priveledge, likewise insurance brokers for between £450-£550 a year.

The guy in the bombay call centre for Zurich ran through the policy with me and said well we offer 100,00 legal expenses and alliance and leic only offer 50k. he then told me to goto the zurich website and apply for a quote that way and that they would match that online price (bear in mind i'm already with zurich)

So i went onto zurich website and got a quote for £598 a year with £250XS. And one without protected No claims which was £540.

is it worth protecting NCB?

anyone know if any of the companies ive mentioned above are anygood for service.

Where do you live? Iraq? I just renewed my insurance last week, I'm 28 with 7 years no claims and it was £335 quid with £100 excess and protected no claims and i live in Northern Ireland. have three points for speeding which i'm declaring. Right enough thats with my partner on it to which believe it or not brought the price down slightly.

I'm with Privilege and have been for a few years, I've had to make a claim and they are competitive come renewal time.

Always had good service and listened and helped as much as possible when their recommended repairer made a complete hash of things.

You could try Admiral and Elephant as they usually give good quotes. You usually only find out how good their service is when you either claim or have issues.

HTH.

lol probably worse...im in kent

Not sure why its so expensive

I ran through the policy with zurich getting them to confirm all the details etc. they told me its insurance group 9 so thats why it is so high.

My previous car was insurance group 7

Group 9 isn't high.

I've always found Zurich expensive and shopped around, all the RBS companies are competitive.

Have you tried the price comparison sites? they work well if your car is standard and your driving history is straight forward like yours seems to be. I would expect you quotes to come in around the £350 mark.

Yep 4 yrs NCB with Dragon tuning box declared, Elephant quoted £280 12 months. Snapped it up. I.m 28 with 0pts and 0 claims living in Milton Keynes.

i've got 5 years no claims but it isnt protected.

perhaps i should just stick with the no protection option as discovered if chose protected the prices jumps up

i got a quote from quinn direct for £748!!!

What's your job?

There are some very high-risk top titles, you see...

i work in sales. Internally.

No business use

however about 6-7 years ago i was in a car accident where i claimed. it was a write off. insurance did pay out

but i didnt think this would effect it as every form i fill in asks if i had an accident in last 5 years and my answer is "no"

It shouldn't do...

I don't believe internal sales is a high-risk job. Try putting down "theatre technician" lol!

Very strange.

I'm with Elephant on the VRS (I'm just hoping I'll not have to make a claim given their reputation...)

Anyway, less than 1 year old car, declared 20k annual mileage and zero NCB - I should explain that, although I have no NCB on this car, my last claim was actually back in Oct. 96.

£300.

hi thanks for all your replies

I got a price from priviledge at £439. So going with them. Allows me to protect my NCB also.

RAC quoted me £750!! what a fecking joke

i spoke to zurich again and their reply was "well your car is a group 9 insurance sir" I was pretty insulted by that considering i'm 30 and have no points on my licence. Hate to think what i'd be charged for a group 14 car

wow i thought id had it bad with insurance, always worth shopping around and using search engines. last time i came to renew i was getting 900s and 1000s etc, then got a quote from more than for 500 or so, no other firms offered anywhere near that. glad to see youve found a good quote. lets hope you dont need to use it!

Protect your ncb, Thats what I'm doing when I get 3/5

What have other companies quoted?

My first year with the Felly was £972 (admiral with 1 fault claim)

with 1 yr ncb with Kwik Fit £700

2 yrs ncb was £640 (they wanted £740 but the website quoted me £640 so they honoured the lower quote) Kwik Fit again.

I'm now 27, will be interesting to see what I get quoted at renewal time!

Try a company called Brentacre Insurance - most of us here at awesome are insured through them - 01792 650933

I'm just 26, 4 years NCB and an accident 4 years ago and i'm paying around £650 (i think:confused:) on my Fabia VRS, so you should be on well less than that, even with an accident 6 years ago, they normally dont count them after 5 years.

oh and thats with protected NCB aswell.
