Dust swirls and cat scratches

Ok, well I've got a lovely mx5 which has managed to do 15k in 4 years.

But now the local fat cat; soon to be thinner when I catch it, has decided to use my mx5 as a launch/ landing pad from the fence.

So Ive got a number of dust swirl type scratches and these blasted cat ones.

What' the best recomended way of smoothing them out?

It's met silver btw, I've been offered a price by a trader for it but reckon it would fetch more private. but I then went to look at it as if I were buying it and figured I'd notice / mark down the price. So I realyl need to tidy up these little marks and kill the cat...

Megs Scratch-X if they aren't too bad.

If they are, or if you're not feeling particularly energetic, I'd throw a few beer tokens in the direction of Wardy and his Porter Cable ;)

But...I'm feeling energetic and have beer tokens :D

What the heck is a porter cable?

Other than a portable cable which isn't much use here as I see it... One or two of them are noticable, a lot disappear when damp ;) But who looks to buy a rag top in the wet :(

I think those catch22 boys had something you know.

Crayon does so well below a good layer of wax ;)

porter cable= orbital polisher.

I've not tried it but I hear brasso works wonders...

Make sure you fix the root cause though - the cat! (remainder of this post deleted by the Animal division of the Brisky PC police)

I can't help with the car, but ...........

Anti Freeze will do a good job of finishing the cat off for you, they love the smell and taste of the stuff and then, after a few moments they will crawl away and experience the sort of pain you are experiencing whilst looking at your car. The big difference is that they will then die, whilst you will regenerate the layer of skin your about to lose whilst polishing.

Remember folks, a cat is a hat, it just does not know it :D

Seeing as your getting shut try AG Super Resin Polish. Its very light abbrasive polish but also very filler heavy to high the scratch. It worked wonders on my nicely key'd whole of the passenger side of the furby :( I applied it using my G220 (PC for the UK power main).

Feel free to lend it or I may even have a go myself if you wish.

Lets just say however high your energy levels are, if you had a wrist action to match one of these, we'd be worried....

Its a Porter Cable 7424 which seemed to be THE choice for detailing types for quite a while. They were only ever available in America in a 110V flavour, so have to be used with a transformer in the UK.

I think is has now been replaced by / rebranded as the UDM - Ultimate Detailing Machine - did you guess from the name that its American ;)

Meguiars have something similar called the G110 (US version - 110V). With the UK version (G220 - 220V) they changed the currency symbol but decided not to bother with the numbers so its $149 for the G110 and £149 for the G220

All righty then I've got one of those :D

But mine comes with stone discs :D

Could use it on the cat yes with a movement sensor?

Well that looks like it would do the job very well indeed. Mind you at this rate I'll have spent anything I was going to save in time, polish and petrol...oh I hate buying andselling cars, way to much f'ing hassle, blasted cats.

Whats worse is for the last 3 weeks I've been fretting on the difference between 122 bhp per tonne and 129 bhp per tonne, petrol v diesel ;) or with a remap 136 v 151...dam that cat for it's exploration this week.

If you join freedom you could always advertise the mx5 on here :D

:) I quite fancy a cross border venture, of course I'd need to use Freedom member services to locate a top notch detailer ;)

Was already listed on here a while back, along with growler below ;)

Feel free mate, MX5 should be nice and quick to do being a wee thing and all :P

If I get a winning ticket it could be a dual purpose visit

Oh the white one needs a lot of tlc, how would you get a bonded wing off, other than using a cat?

So have you sold the MX5 then, or did you change your mind?

Ive got a couple of retired greyhounds which would be more than happy to come and have a 'chat' with the local moggy.... :D

What model of MX-5 is this? MK1? MK2? MK3?
