Parrot blue tooth

Featured Replies

I have just had a parrot blue tooth kit fitted to my car, it works well but it will only work with the ignition on with everything lit up or the engine running, when I switch off the engine the parrot turns off.

any suggestions how to keep it on so I can listen to the radio without the ignition or engine on, and so it will turn off when I take the key out.

I asked the fitter if he could use the live to the radio but he said he could not as it does not have one????????????

Your fitter is correct, the Octy II doesn't have a switched live to the radio.

You could create a switched live from the fuse box. What I did was cut the loom down and take the earth, permy live and switched live from the fuse box.

If you have a stream look at the pin out on top as some I have seen have a live to the cd changer that is switched when the head unit gets power. This would provide some level of it working.

I can't quite work out while it only works with the engine running as the only way to wire it up would to be to use the permy live twice. Seems odd.

Put the key in and turn to the first click nothing but the radio works, second click ignition lights on, parrot on, start engine everything works.

turn the engine off and leave the key in radio on, parrot off.

If the radio works on auxiliary why wont the parrot there must be some kind of live going to the radio

There are in fact two live supplies to the headunit, however they are both permanant live and not switched.

A little bit of checking around with a multimeter on the fuse panel and you should find what you want, also there should be a fuse marked for use with the telephone in your owners manual.

I take it then that the car key is the on off switch for the radio as soon as you put the key in the power to the radio is on.

Will the power from the phone fuse location switch the parrot off when the key is removed only???

I dont have a clue about electrics so sorry for asking what may seem daft questions

The two power supplies to the radio are always on. The radio is switched by CAN commands.

If you aren't confident to use a multimeter to identify a suitable location on the fuse panel then I'm afraid you'll ned to go to somone who is able to do it for you.

Its also possible that if the fitter did install a switched live that the actual parrot fuse connectors need to be switched, but its a rather long shot :).

Also assuming he used a harness, maybe the fly cable was connected to a Permanent supply in the fuse box rather than a switched.
