I run spacers on my motor and have never had any problems with them as long as you have hubcentric ones with the correct length wheel bolts......

I've only heard good things about the Eibach's. I guessed they'd drop a little lower after they've bedded in a little but it shouldn't be by too much and the ride is pretty good so far. I'll let you know how they go after a while. Like I said before, I never wanted the car to look as unique as yours or Baker's. To be fair your motors look something special, more customised maybe? I'll inflate your ego's and even go so far to say "cooler" .... but that's not the look I wanted for this car. I just wanted it to sit better, a more squatted stance. As for the rest of it I just wanted it quietly understated. I'm 32 now mate and I don't reckon I can pull off cool anymore. Just doesn't happen once you hit 30.

Since lowering it, two lads thought it was an Audi and on second thoughts it kinda does resemble one. Maybe Andy's alloys help out on that front.

Incidentally, some idiot drove into the back of me the other day, dented the boot lid and a minor scratch on the bumper. Not best pleased but it looks like the damage is repairable. A few hundred quid should get it sorted hopefully. It's a bugger but often the way when you get a new toy.

I have had various spacers since I have owned the Superb but it all comes down to what ET your running?

What ET are those wheels you have got on?

I am running 15mm Hubcentric Spacers on the front at the moment on ET 35 with 8.5J wheels and none on the rear with ET35 and 9.5J wheels, kind of wish I would have sourced two sets or 9.5J wheels but that wasn't an option at the time...........:thumbdwn:

They are brave - it's not that I don't like them because I think I do. I just think it's totally different from what has effectively been tried and tested on cars like the Superb for years. See cleaned.be for example.

Thanks for the comments about the car as well, appreciate that as I'm sure will Baker. My car's no where near as "unique" as Bakers but I'm pleased with the way it looks

Regarding the springs... I agree, nothing but praise for Eibach. As I said earlier I plumped for KW as they were slightly lower, and I like the fact a lot of people in VW circles swear by KW including many of my work collagues. Oh, and Eibach were out of stock at the time

Cheers for the comment man. Yeah yours and Bakers will turn heads. I mean they look somewhat different, so much so it's noticeable, in a good way I mean. With mine you'd pretty much have to actually be looking for evidence of lowering etc etc. With this motor that's kind of how I wanted it. Incidentally, how is the ride on the KW's you have? I didn't go for them because I was concerned they may make it way too hard and bumpy ... but I was sorely tempted by the 40mm drop. Happy enough with the Eibach's but still interested to see what you think of yours.

ET45...........hmmm..........you would definately benefit from some spacers then mate, ET45 means that the wheels sit well into the arches so with some 15mm spacers you would have a nice 'poke' on the wheels........

Incidentally, how is the ride on the KW's you have?

It's a peach. It's not really any different from standard if I'm at all honest, except the handling's improved. That said it's been a long time since I've driven a Superb with standard suspension.

Sure I'm up for that. As for Baker's, I reckon he works for the Highways Agency, seeing which cats-eyes are fitted correctly. It's a highly developed skill but he can determine which are faulty by how they kiss his backside as he drives over them.

Yeah, they are.

I'd try looking for some spring assistors for the rear just to be safe though, espescially if you're towing a car trailer.

Yes mate they are stiffer, but as Bluefox said, on the towing front you may end up riding on the bump stops at time under load. He knows more than me on this subject, my only experience of suspension was a few years ago at work. We'd prepare cars for what we needed from them by removing the airbags and fuel cut-off systems then we'd send the cars down to the workshop where they'd uprate the suspension springs and shocks and fit runflats.

Drop wise I am not too sure, I removed the rear adjuster blocks so that is a low as it will go and the front is wound down all the way so not sure to be honest..............all I know is that I can't go any lower unless I put smaller wheels on which will be happening soon.............

We've wanted to lower it since getting it an especially more so since getting the alloys.

Needs four wheel alignment doing though as the rears are wearing on the inside.

Yeah, I think they probably are then, or a modern equiviliant. You can get different sized lips for the RM, I would imagine that's the same with the rims you've got.

We used to sell them at Halfords, the ones I'm thinking of are called Grayston Spring Assisters. I believe they're bits of rubber or similar that sit between coils of your spring and effectively increase the poundage of your rear springs.

When we sold them I think they were about £20 or so a pair, and a lot of stores will still have them in stock.

Does a straight spring swap affect the geometry?
