Suspension lowering question?

Does a straight spring swap affect the geometry?

Yes, if they're lower.

Can you buy the KW springs on their own or can you only buy them with the dampers?

Hi

There is the Weitec ones that are made by KW that you can get on their own if you like

Quite cheap too ;)

You can source both KW and Weitec springs on there own no problem.........

I have just had my rear shocks priced up by a local independant and they have sourced prices for the standard shocks, and the "sports" shocks...both OEM.

£135. fitted for the standard ones

£202. fitted for the sport ones

Only thing is, I'll probably have to change the fronts to sport ones too...so £400 odd quid!!

Hmm. So these "sport" shocks are OE spec? The only suspension I was aware of was the "heavy duty" set up (-15mm front +15mm rear) for towing or the factory fitted -15mm option which I know SJFisher has. I was under the impression they both used the same dampers.

BTW, if you're looking at paying that much money and you want to lower it... you might want to consider a suspension kit... although IIRC when I was looking for mine I only priced up springs only and then coilover kits, so I'm not sure on price and avail.

Sarah, you guys list anything other then springs only & coilovers from KW Automotive?

Weitec do springs and shockers at

40/35 £308.09 + VAT

Does that help?

Probably said it earlier in this thread but I opted for Eibach spings. Think the drop was 30mm both front and rear.

First fitted them and was pleased, although I admitted then I wanted slightly more of a drop ... however in the first 4-6 weeks the springs settled in a bit and dropped a little more and I'm happy enough with them.

The ride is stiffer but not bone jarring. The handling is improved because of the reduced pitch and roll under braking and in corners. I reckon any more of a drop than 30mm I'd expect to start finding speed bumps a problem.

From memory I think the springs were around the £160 mark inc. delivery.

Superb sits much better now, pleased you are happy with it.

I am getting my hands on Eibach-pro 30mm drop springs next week and was planning on fitting myself, did you DIY?

I have the KW Variant 1 Coilovers and I am very happy with them, but as your leaning to the springs set up I would suggest that Bluefox on here gives you his opinion as he has the KW springs on his Superb and could comment on the ride..............

Hi Baker21

Are you still using KW Variant 1 Coilovers on your car? And if so, is it the "inox-line" or "basic" version?

I'm planing to lower my superb classic 2.0 '03 but having a hard time figuring out what brand is best.

I really like what you have done to your car.. in my eyes it's perfect:thumbup:

Hello...........:D

I am still running KW Variant 1's and the kit I have is the 'INOX-LINE'.........

Brand wise it all depends on price to be honest, I have been more than happy with my KW's and if I hadn't gone for them I would have bought Wietec but some people have had good results with cheaper brands such as V-Maxx..........:D

Thanks for the kind comments, she is getting on a bit now.........:(

Sorry to hear that..

It's not posible to get KW Variant 1 Coilovers in denmark I just found out.. Only Weitec..

Do you have any info about the weitec model? Dont know any who have tried weitec.

Btw. guess the price for the equivalent weitec model in denmark?? 867 £!!!

NOT the price I want to give without any recommendation..

To be honest KW own Weitec so I wouldn't have any issues buying them at all.........

I am afraid I don't have any information on the Weitec set up but you could send a PM to AwesomeSarah on here and she will give you some information as I spoke to her before about the Weitec coilovers for the Superb............:D

The price sounds about right as my KW's were around £650 IIRC and most things in Denmark are that much more expensive as I have a mate who lives out there............:(

thats what i'm running not quite as low as i wanted but i'm really happy with them, I fitted my own, fronts we're a bit of a pig because we had to heat a couple of bolts up with the old oxy-cetalene coz they were rusted solid.

I'd mirror the comment above, I too have Eibach springs giving a -30mm drive height. I deally I would have preferred a -40mm drop but -40mm is on the limit of what the car can take without new dampners too. Also, from when they were first fitted the car needs to settle into the new springs and it does drop a little more once the springs have had a chance to bed in. Overall happy with the height and handling.

and i should hope you are happy with the results, it was a bloody hot day when i fitted them, making me sweat while you stood there watching :rofl:

Yeah but unlike most master techs, halfway through you threw up into a bucket.
