And i only had to fill it up yesterday :D - 570 miles later

i knew i should have bought a diesel years ago

I fill my Tavia vRS up regularly. Bu then again I've got 230+bhp so horses for courses :D

My SEAT is now on 480 mile and 3/4 of a tank :(

Get a remap, HONESTLY you will get even better MPG when driving as you normally would & more fun when you need it

Yesterday I did 500 miles in my Octy TDI at an average of 59.1 MPG.

For the first time I hit 600 miles on a single tank of fuel , and I still had 20 miles range left according to the trip computer. :)

So... i make that (in comparison to a Octy vRS) at least 200% economy and about 90% real world performance?

/me dons flame suit :D

You may well be onto something there.

Now if only I could find a PD130 to replace my 110 for the right price.....

110+Jabba map equates to 164 bhp & loads of torque, average driving including Motorways at 85-90 equates to about 54 mpg

As for performance, will give 135 on the clock & will out acceleratethe small TT's which I think are 180bhp

Cheaper than a 130 engine change

Anyone genuninely interested in performance isn't bothered by fuel economy...it's a sacrifice that's made.

Likewise, anyone who buys for economy wouldn't think an average of 60mpg is all that great. Not from a diesel anyway... :P

But what if you want a high performance car but are too tight/skint to pay for it? :D

Fabia RS - niche market leader originally.. but now everyones after a slice

Then you buy a budget car with sporty badges stuck on it... ;)

Well, yes, apart from the Golf GTI PD, which I believe was the first "diesel performance car"... :D

Here we go :D

What you want is an "SDI" :D

I wouldn't expect more than 145 after a remap , which seems to be about what the PD130s put out.

With a PD130 I'd also have the six speed gearbox and cheaper insurance than a remapped car , plus it would give me an excuse to change cars after mine eventually gets fixed.

so you reckon you can get nearly 1000 miles from a full tank.

i might be wrong, but i thought these diesel engines were pretty similar in theses cars. id like to know how slow you drive in your world.

even though my octy is lowered, and got 17" rims, im still getting between 500 and 570 from a tank.

I can get higher mileages after a longer drive, I stick to around 65 to 70 and I don't wear shoes if I drive long distance as I have found that it does make a difference to economy.

I can do for example home to Carlisle and back on 1/2 a tank with the vent trick a round trip of 376 miles, therefore a theoretical range to empty of 752 miles. I will get pictures the next time I do :D
