Hi i have got 1 wheel bearing that is gone on my octi mk1 vrs & was wondering if anyone has the same prob and what it cost to repair so i can fish around for some resonable quotes thanks

not sure about mk1, but a regular problem with mk2

Cost me £100 foe a rear bearing, and think I was quoted £90 for a front one, but mine isnt a VRS

Front bearing iirc is about £40 plus fitting.

I usually do em for £100 all in.

Ok not to bad then . thanks for the advise

Advice is free :)

I had one go and the other felt a little rough, so got them both done. As Lummox says, they were £40 each. Think I paid £150 for the lot.

worth getting both front ones done for that price !

I have had 1 front go on my MK1 VRS in the last few months. Paid £137.00 all in via Independant VAG spec in Hampshire.

Only did the faulty one didn't bother with the other at the same time.

54 plate 33k on the clock if that helps.

Had the faulty one done today £105.74 .back on the road now get in there !!

Mine was £90 at independent..... front passenger side went @ 55000 miles

Had mine go at 19k just before the warranty ran out , so a freebie:) but do worry is that the usual life for them:confused:

I had both my fronts fail at 28000 miles and 2 days left on the original warranty (Jan 2006), Skoda changed them without any argument, however the car is now 800 miles short of 60k and they have started to rumble again! mmm, me thinks another common fault maybe.

2003 Vrs

The trouble is cars would be scrap before the wheel bearings were shot years ago.

I think they have a bit of catching up to do in the wheel bearing department....
