What is this remote for?

Featured Replies

Anyone got any idea what this remote is for? It's definitely from a new Superb, but other than that.........

I think I know what it is, but was wondering if anyone else has seen anything like it.

Bagpuss.

Lights on/off when you approach the car in the dark

It doesn't do anything , but it's got a little counter inside. Then when you take the car in for service, the technicians download the number of times that you've pressed the buttons to try and find out what the fob does, and upload the numbers to a special VAG website. Then, every month, the garage who had the customer with the highest 'press counts' wins a pair of tickets to the next round of F1...

There's always one.

Remote start?

Got no idea myself.

Webasto...

In some countries where they have got proper winters you can choose, as an additional accessory/feature, so called 'independent heating system' with remote controller. Remote fob seems to be for a passenger who, during bad weather and absence of the driver (sic, I meant chauffeur - it's a limousine not a family hatch) can operate (turn on/off) additional heating when his feet become cold and body start shivering.

Am I right Bugpuss.

Where I collect the prize? ;)

You are absolutely correct.

The remote is for the 'auxiliary heating system', which was actually discussed in the options thread yesterday.

It doesn't look like Skoda UK are going to be offering it, as it probably doesn't get cold enough here to bother with.

Sadly, no prizes though :(

BTW: I've no clue why they did use remote fob for that feature. Would not be an easier just place a switch on a back center panel (where the clock and other bits 'n bulbs are)

The Remote, can be changed with a Webasto Unit inside the car with timer.

Webasto...

That would be my guess.

but wouldnt it be great to just lean out of the bedroom window on a cold frosty morning and switch the heater on in the car. No more freezing my butt off waiting for the heater, i bet the guy down the road whos car was stolen while he was eating his brekkie would probabley go for this option too.
