Polo GT -v- Fab vRS

Featured Replies

I see Volkswagen has introduced a Polo GT

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/new_cars/polo/gt

Spec is very similar to the Fabia vRS - but the price is definitely NOT! The 130bhp TDI engine fitted is claimed to be Euro IV compliant. Any idea what changes they've made to achieve this? The current Furby engine isn't Euro IV as far as I know...

Can see people going for it, despite the price - badge snobbery is alive and kicking, not to mention it available as a 3-door :)

Great if you don't like black, silver, red or yellow.

Im sure it will be popular.

But id still put up with normal a/c and have the Fabia, the Polo I think looks a little bland.

 And a couple of grand to spend at Jabbasport, AND the exclusivty

Saw this in Autocar this week. I did notice that they quoted the power as 128BHP - so whatever has been done to meet the Euro IV standards has taken a little off the top end.

Don't know what it's done to the torque though.

130 PS = 128 bhp

A standard system of counting the outputs would be nice!

:D

I have to admit if I had money to spend I would choose the VW badge over skoda BUT the big thing with this one is the VW just isn't as nice looking as the skoda. I would deffinately and infact have gone for the skoda. those round headlights look a little silly, look like a slightly larger lupo

I believe the euro IV engines are slightly de tuned / modified to output less of the harmful stuff, & there is an extra bit in the exhaust to trap some more C*&p.

If it is like the Superb euro IV, it is not as quick, not quite as frugal, lower top end.

It looks like anyone who has the current 130BHP engine is better off ( except if you are a green party member ). :)

Even if I wanted a car with toytown headlights, compare the options prices for the Polo GT against the Fabia vRS: cruise, ESP and sunroof are all substantially more, VW charge

do the mats really come free with the vRS, I can't find any reference to them anywhere in the skoda site / brocheur
