roof aerial

Featured Replies

Hi, i'm a new member but have been checking the site for a while.

I have an 03 octavia vrs & was going to swap the aeriel for a snazzy silver

one i had bought for me..Problem, the std. roof aeriel only unscrews so far

& seems to be iremovable...does anyone know if the aeriel can be completely

removed..

Thanks.

charles

Its a security feature the aerial rod cannot be removed from the base it can only be unscrewed and placed parallel to the rear screen for car washes.

:wave23d: welcome charles

sadly there isn't an easy way of removing the aerial completely (for security reasons I suppose).

you can remove the aerial on older octavias.

so... the difficult way of swapping over to an aftermarket item would be

1. Remove the headlining

2. Remove entire aerial and base plate.

3. Substitute for a mk1 octavia base plate.

4. Screw on aftermarket aerial.

I've thought about this an d it's not a job i really fancy doing :(

Thanks for the info guy's....i guess for the sake of an aeriel it's a lot of work & not worth it..

They do come out (ive had to replace some under warranty before now and id be buggered if id take down the headlining..lol.)

Unscrew it all the way, be brave and give it a sharp tug. All that holds the mast in there is a small barb on the bottom, it breaks pretty easy. Then screw in you snazzy mast :)

Ross you are the king :)

Why thank you :)

Im quite looking forward to getting back into the dealer and playing with the simple things again. ;)

Good tip - Just tried it on an old aerial I had that was off the car , it came out as described quite a force was needed though.
