Is that a ...?

Featured Replies

Filled up on Thursday, and the guy behind the counter said "Great looking car. Is that one of the new Alfas?"

Actually had to go look at the badge when I told him!

So what has YOUR Skoda been mistaken for?

A Vauxhall! :cussing:

Rob.

  • A BMW :cussing:
  • A Rover :cussing: :cussing:

Yea the olde it looks like a BMW trick!!!:D

Time to dig this out.....

Looks like a BMW? Never!!

bmw.txt

;)

An Audi and a BMW 3 series , so far! (I can see the 600 Rover likeness in the grille tho , to non car fans!)

Mine was nearly mistaken for a petrol once!

Fortunately I have now recovered from this terrible incident...

Its bad enough being compared to a BMW, but if anyone ever mistakes mine for a diesel, my next post will be from a prison cell :p

Just imagine if Skoda contemplated producing a diesel powered vRS....

I'm sure they wouldn't do such a thing. I mean that would be just be outrageous!

Whatever next? - an estate version?

I get that all the time ..." Jeezuz this is quick for a diesel" I just nod and laugh..:ignore: :rofl2: :drive:

BaaHeed

The only thing that is faster than your vRS is your meter.

Mine's been mistaken for a Saab 93 Aero

The guy in the car park just now didn't have a clue what it was...

Shame we were exchanging insurance details because he'd just

reversed into my driver's door...

Rob.

My fabia is normally mistaken for a VW, yet I reckon the polo doesn't look like the Fabia much at all. I've not had anyone mistaking my car for anything else since I've had the new wheels though. I wonder if people are now looking a bit closer at the car before opening their mouths and looking stupid. (its best to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid, than open it and remove all doubt.)

Bad luck Rob. Another hike in the premium around the corner thanks to some careless "person". Bet there were no amusing Skoda jokes from HIM!

No, I think he was a bit perturbed that I was more cheerful about it all

than him...really bugs people when I do that... ;)

I'm dreading a premium hike, as I can see I'll end up paying about 2k a year,

as well as being further from earning any NCB at all!

Surely it is the other guys insurance that will go up , not yours? I had my neighbours car hit mine when I was parked outside my house last year and I didnt notify my insurer at all , his insurance dealt with me direct.

Your insurance co will pay for your repairs assuming fully comp cover, if they then manage to get the full amount back from the other parties insurance co then your NCB will be intact - thats what an insurance co told me some time ago when I was in a similar situation.

Cheers for the advice guys...

Was going to see how much ChipsAway were, as it just seems like less hassle

than having to deal with insurance companies, workshops, hire/courtesy cars

and all. Also it happened in a car park, so there's the whole potential hornets'

nest of "private land", etc...

Still, I've only been an insurance policy holder since last September, so it's

not like I'd have much NCB to lose if the other chap's insurance company

didn't play ball... :D

Rob.

Well, to continue the story...the ChipsAway guy is planning on coming Saturday

morning to do a quote. When I described the nature of the dent to him he

seemed to think it might be a bit too serious for their kind, but wanted to have

a look at it to check.

Also, the other party's insurance company phoned - I explained to them that I

didn't think the damage was that major, but I was getting someone to look at

it. They gave me their phone number and told me to call them if I needed

to use any of their services, and that they'd put it all in a letter for me.

Which I thought was very decent of the other party, as he probably isn't

even making a claim on his car!

I've got Chipsaway coming on Saturday morning to quote too, and the woman said they already had one job "up that way" already on Saturday. Sounds like it might be the same person.

That's exactly what the guy said to me! Is his name Neil by an chance?

So what are you looking to get them to do on your car?

Rob.
