I hope so!! Just wondering: a dealer is offering me a silver fabia vrs for £9750 56 plate with 13,000 miles on the clock. Is this a good price?

Hi John.

Checked Parkers and What Car quote £9200. Wisebuyer quote £8400. The AA at £9275.

The valuations seem all over the place. What would you pay for this car?

I dont have £9000 in cash so I have to rely on HP.

I dont think id pay £9750 for VRS thats 2 years old. When i bought mine it was 22 months old, had 19k on the clock, 1 previous owner and was silver and i paid £9150 for it if that helps? What you have to look at is how much you will end up paying for the car over the period of you HP. Would it not be better to get a loan and do it that way? You can get a very nice already modded VRS for £6500 mark. Its worth thinking about how much your going to be able to sell the car for when the time comes as well.

Just looking at auto trader on the trade cars and they seem to be going for about £8500 for 06-57 plate VRS's with under 18k miles on them. Id print off aload of good deals from dealers and take them to your dealer and say this is how much they are going for.

Thanks John. I have never bought from a dealer before. On Autotrader I did a detailed search (closely specced to the one I want to buy) and I only found 6 fabias between £8000 to £10,000. It seems that the dealers price is ok. But I have found a red one for £9000 and its near me!

A mondeo ST 2.2 TDCI would be well worth a look

Looks like I am not get a Fabia vrs anymore!! The dealer who is selling the car to me (via finance) wanted £9750 minus £1000 deposit. He threw in 6 months road tax (£66) and thats it! I have found othe Fabia vrs (same spec) for £9000 and less. I tried to get a cheaper price but they didn't want to budge. So I had to walk away. :(

No loss, the fabia isn't rare and it isn't really that high on the performance either.

It's a quick, small run around car and won't compare to actual performance cars.

After much thought and since I only do about 8000 miles per year, I have decided to go for a petrol. I have narrowed it down to a Octavia VRS or Mondeo ST220. Cna anyone advice me o which to get?

I'd say the Mondeo Handles better as stock and IIRC sounds nicer.

The Octavia might be cheaper and tunes well.

Basically take them both for a drive, see what you can get on pricing and do some research. Once you've done that you should be able to find which out of these two cars suits your needs most. IIRC both are good cars.

make sure you consider road tax, might be hefty on the st220 if its the 2.5 litre engine depending on age of car.
