Rear aero wiper part #?

Featured Replies

Hey :)

I've got some bosch aerotwin wipers on the front which rock, but my back one just seems to smear everything...

Am I right in thinking the current polo/golf rear wipers will fit? Anyone got a part number/price from a vag dealer?

I take it these definately fit? And are pretty easy to to fit?

i pinched mine yesterday off a polo from the scrappy! £1 quid it came to!:D

looks loads better:thumbup:

They are a straight swap on the Fabia..... Fitted them on both of ours in about 10 minutes.

Only thing i did was sand down the plastic cover / cap on the new wiper so it didn't touch the glass.

Cheers

Dave.

Hey Dave, what did you need to sand down? :)

I know I had to pushthe blade over a bit so it covered the windscreen, and sprayed some wd40 over the bolt before i tightend it to stop it being corroded.

Ah brilliant, they look so much better L-Y-K.

I sanded down the bottom of the plastic cover that goes over the nut.

I found on both ours it wouldn't click into place properly and kept lifting up slightly. Remember the cap should physically click down into place when properly fitted. After sanding it down it clicks into place like it should. There is also an ever so slight gap between the glass and the cover so it doesn't mark the glass after being used.

Excellent, I've just found my next mod!

Just ordered mine

Sorry for jumping in here, but I was looking to change the rear wiper blade, have you to buy the complete arm as I cant see where the blade itself clips out because of the, like cover round it ?

You don't replace the whole wiper arm etc.... Only the wiper blade and the metal / plastic bit the rubber is actually connected to...... Just like you would the front wipers etc.....

Cheers

Dave.

Hi Davey This is what I don't understand The fronts yes you can disconnect the blades from the arms, but the back because its in like a housing you cannot get the blade of the arm ? or do you mean just replace with a refill wiper!

Hmmm do you still have the standard rear wiper? I have that one in front of me right now. You can just replace the blade on these without replacing the arm (with the old type blade), but you will need to remove the arm off the car to change it as these are such a crappy design they don't bend. Its just one 13 mm nut, but have some wd40 and (optionally) some copper slip to hand.

You won't be able to just fit a new flat/aero blade to this arm though, only the regular old type. You'll need to buy the whole arm for the polo if you want to do this, and then buy the flat blade/aero refills for the polo that cost about 4-5 quid from then on.

Thanks Confused Yes it is the standard rear wiper. I guess if I have to remove it to put a blade in, Ill just go for polo arm with new blade thanks max.

Fitted my new aero rear wiper last night. It seems a far better design, as well as improving the looks ever so slightly

Considering the minimal cost, and the relative ease of installation, it's worth doing.

With regard to the sanding, this is because the hinged end cap off the original arm has a flat base, whereas the Polo aero one has a curve which catches the glass and makes the cap pop up when in use. As well as looking daft, this also renders the washer jet useless. 2 minutes with the bench grinder and a lick of wet and dry soon fixed that though :)

Importantly...NO MORE SMEARS :D

The Polo (touran too) rear wiper is far nicer to look at than the standard Fabia wiper arm.

When i owned my last car (SEAT Leon) everyone on SCN was raving about the fabia rear wiper blade but i never liked it so i bought the Polo/touran one instead as it suited the front Aero wipers better.

Makes me laugh how everyone on here who has the Fabia blade as standard on their car wants the polo one instead
