Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Chrome?

Featured Replies

A new browser was released this week, Google released Chrome and so far it seems quite good!

Google Chrome - Download a new browser

Anyone else trying it?

I been trying to find a link all day, DLing now thanks!

I'm using it now. It seems very quick...

where's the mac version??

I thought it was gonna use the Gecko engine, but its seems it uses Webkit - never really tried that before apart from briefly in Safari, but if its anything like KHTML code it should be pretty fast.

Will give it a play later

I'm sure they will get around to the minority Operating Systems in the future some time :)

Meh.

Google=Skynet.

I'll stick with FF, and prevent judgement day thanks ;)

I used it for a bit, impressed with the size of the browsing window, but not liking the bookmarks bar. It takes too long to get into your imported bookmarks.

And I think it's slower than FF.

Underwhelmed :thumbdwn:

i'm finding the latest version of firefox a little slow, may give chrome a chance but i'm guessing its not any better going the reviews so far.

Why is it NOT chrome?? Disappointed much!

yeah, just after they've blocked up all the hacker and virus loopholes in the pc version:)

Have been trying this for the past hour or so.

Ive only ever had IE before.

Chrome is a hell of a lot faster, but i dont like the the bookmarks bar tbh.

I don't think I want to give up my Firefox Addins :)

Some good ideas in there, and I welcome the fresh approach; having something new in the marketplace will make the other players think, and should make them up their game.

I like the 'Most Visited' feature the best probably, and the whole experience does seem to run along very nicely. Swift, seamless changes while navigating and speed seems good.

Will it tempt me from FFX3 and all my add-ons? No, not at the moment. But for a first stage beta I'm impressed.

I'm waiting for some independent review.

Google is always a bit keen on capturing data.

I'm having a play with it at the mo!

Oh... it's underlined 'mo' as I'm typing! Built in spell checker?

Anyway - the scroll part of my laptop pad lets me scroll down but not back up in it! Same with the the mini direction button too... Hmm...

All your base are belong to Google......

No thanks, I trust the big G no more than I trust the big M.

Im testing it.. seems OK.

I like the most visited page.. its a nice way to organise stuff im likely going to look at..

Also side by side comparison, it uses about half as much memory as FF does and loads each tab in a separate process, which should theoretically improve performance and not crash the whole app if one of the pages becomes unresponsive.

Meh.

Very true! Their actualy business name is; Cyberdyne Systems Inc. Trading as Google

I'm using Chrome now.... seems to be a lot faster than FF, but I miss my delicious bookmarks

apple where trying to get me to install safari, but the thing is im happy with firefox, i use to prefer mozilla netscape one years ago, only using internet explorer for the few pages it didnt understand.

I like the start page with your most recent activity on (don't worry there is an incognito tab for browsing left handed sites) at the minute I can't seem to find a home button that every other browser in the world has.

It seems faster to me than FF3, definately when starting the program and marginally when displaying pages.

EDIT: Found how to add the Home button :)

ANOTHER EDIT: There's no plug in available to view the website for our vehicle tracking service :(

AND ANOTHER EDIT: Logmein doesn't work either!

I'm using Opera currently. I got sick of FF being such a resource hog, and with FF3 it became totally unuseable on my lower spec machines. I miss one or two addins like delicious, but don't miss the slowness and constant disk churn.

May look at Chrome sometime, not going to rush in if it's currently a beta, which I assume is the case? (mind you most browsers seem to be beta, most of the time...)

IANOTHER EDIT: There's no plug in available to view the website for our vehicle tracking service :(

AND ANOTHER EDIT: Logmein doesn't work either!

I'd report the issues to them Dave. Hit the icon to the right of the address bar, and it's the last option.

It is a beta version after all :)
