Yohan's Furby Thread

Featured Replies

Right, I've joined the forum recently as I'm planning to get rid of my Golf next February/March and replace it with a Fabia vRS.

I plan to make this thread a place where I can gather information on them, find out about extras they came with etc, then nearer the time I will begin hunting for one. :D

So here were go.

I'll be looking to spend about £6000ish roundabout next February time on a standard Fabia vRS in either silver or black. Aiming for about 40K miles on the clock, maybe less.

Looking at Pistonheads I reckon this would get me about a 2004/2005/2006 registered model.

Are there any common problems associated with the models produced in those years?

I read about one issue in my welcome post regarding a stuttering to do with some new emissions thing however I've heard this can be rectified at the dealer.

My Golf at the moment has Xenon headlights and cruise control which I'd love to have again, do all vRS's come with this?

Finally, why are they called "Furby's"

Cheers

Xenons and cruise were options Remember - you are coming from Tesco's own brand down to Tesco Value ;)

Haha right, ok, I'll just have to be more specific in my searching :D

What about VW's ESP, does the vRS have something similar?

ESP is an option also... ASR is standard tho, stands for Absolutely and Shockingly Rubbish traction control

To find a Fabia with Xenon's, cruise and ESP your going to be lucky

Lol this could be harder than I thought. However I've got over 6 months to look so I'm not going to give up! Any other options I should be aware of?

heated seats?

leathers, cd changer

  • Author

Not bothered about CD changer or heated seats, and as long as they are comfy enough then I'm not too fussed about leathers either :)

Got cloth Recaro's in the Golf at the moment and they are just about right.

I know there is one out there as I got rid of mine with these nearly a year ago.

I'm sure there will be a few, just need to keep an eye out. What are the common faults to look for when buying? Or if there is a guide on the forum just tell me to shut up and use the search button :P

If you can get one with leather interior. Wish i had as the original cloth seats are MURDER to keep clean lol

Ok so I'm looking to spend about £6000 on the car itself, and I'm after the following.

A Black standard Fabia vRS 04-06

Around 40K

Cruise (preferred but not essential)

Xenons

ESP

Leather (preferred but not essential)

For around February/March in 2009.

Sound realistic enough?

I've got cruise and xenons - can highly recommend both! Keep searching, you'll find the right one. Good luck!

Cheers, it's worth the wait :)

Its worth remembering that the cruise control can be retrofitted. If you dont fancy tackling this yourself (I didnt) most garages will charge around £200 for the kit and installation.

*Does little dance...

Ah good point Chris. At least that makes the search easier come the time. As long as it's been well looked after and is standard then I'm happy :)

Keep dancing Arragonis :D

You also wont get one with leather as this was never offered from new except on the SE which won't come with Xenons, Cruise or ESP.

Skoda do a retro fit but it's £1300 and it's not as good as other aftermarket offerings. You might find one with aftermarket leather but you will be lucky. Really lucky

My 55 plate in Black Magic with Cruise, xenons and ESP went from the dealer in January for £9k with 57k on the clock...

Blimey that's a bit more than I'll have!

There's probably not much point thinking about it too much now. Just see what's available in February time :)

However if anybody knows anyone that wants to sell their vRS around that time then please do drop me a PM. Feel better knowing it's coming from Briskoda folks.

i think for the spec, mileage and age your looking for you'll need to pay about £8-9k

My bogo standard vRS (06) cost me £9k

ESP is an option also... ASR is standard tho, stands for Absolutely and Shockingly Rubbish traction control

Unless I sell mine........ and I would not sell for less than 8.5K

Hello again,

Well I've almost saved up and almost finished Uni and after looking at different options regarding cars I'm still pretty stuck with the Fabia vRS.

Not that I need to tell everyone here but with super cheap tax, insurance, and good MPG it's a no brainer for me.

Also with the credit crunch on the go I should be able to get a good deal.

I'll be looking to buy in the next couple of months (Feb/March) so if anybody knows of any matching the following rough spec coming up for sale in that sort of time, I'd be very grateful if you could let me know.

A Black totally standard Fabia vRS 04-07 with FSH.

Around 30K on the clock or less

Xenons

I'm based in Aberdeen as well if that's any help.

Thanks in advance,

John

Still for 6k?

Probably around the 7/7.5 mark now. Of course will happily pay less :)
