Not sure whether to stick with the Halfords Rain Repellent or change to Rain-X now as it's nearly empty...........

Thanks mate, seem to be getting some heat from a trader though..........

Nice Baker - another tremendous attempt on a difficult, if not impossible, ask!

Always a pleasure to look over your detailed work.

Cheers,

Ste.

Thanks for the comment mate, it was hard work this week, very tiring and very long nights but the results were worth it.

The Focus is now for sale and the owner is looking at buying a newer Focus ST and has said that he will be giving me that one to attend to as well..........:D

Glad you enjoy the writeups..........

looks good.

3 questions:

Doesn't "little helper" have a name? How does she feel about being referred to as "little helper" all the time? :)

Realistically, if an owner gets their car into that state, then asks you to detail it, how long is it before it's back to all scratched and dirty again? Do they just keep coming back and paying over and over again?

What are "RDS marks"?

Looks like you did a fine job with the tools to hand and given the depth of some of the marks!

1) Ofcourse she does but it's a nickname that has stuck through all the details and I have just kept using it.........:D

2) All of my customers are given some suggestions on what they should buy in order to wash the car safely and protect it in the future so the car will not get scratched again by washing. I am yet to have someone return to me as they seem to get very interested in 'Detailing' and buy various bits and pieces......

3) RDS means 'Random Deep Scratches'.........

Thanks for the comment mate, we always try to achieve the best finish possible with what we have........:P

More questions:

With the hundreds of different waxes out there, how do you decide which combinations to use, and do they vary per car make/paint type? I notice the combination of Collinite (whatever number, I forget) and the Butter Wet Wax stuff feature in most of your recent articles. Do they just happen to be your faves at the moment?

Why do you put two different waxes on, at all? (just curious, no criticism intended or implied)

I used rain-X and have to say it was really really awful stuff as it smears so easily.

If you're happy with the halfords stuff, I wouldn't pay more for the rain-X.

I really do prefer aquapel and I know that nick got some of the Lidl/Aldi nano protect. Sure you've seen the comments on the G1 nano on DW too.

Nick, Different waxes look subtly different or last for different times.

The Colli 476s lasts very well and looks quite nice, but then you can put a coat of a wax that doesn't last well, but looks very good on top of this. That means you get the good looks, but when this has given up, you will still have the long term protection from the colli underneath it.

The man never stops!

Big improvement over the original condition of the car

Feel free to ask questions mate, more the merrier.......

cheezemonkhai has replied before me but I have a wide range of waxes from fancy waxes that will last a month to more durable ones such as Collinite.

Depending on the customer and the colour I will choose a wax that will keep the car durable but also look good. Recently I have been using Collinite 476s because it's super durable and with the current weather it needs to be, I have then thrown a glossy / wet CG product on top purely for looks.....:D

Thanks for your input mate, I haven't read any of the posts on DW but I will now........more than happy with the Halfords own product so may just stick with that........

Very nice mate! I fantastic effort and a great write up! You like the foam lance then eh??;)

AB-1:thumbup:

Thanks for the comment, Foam Lance is pretty good but the fit to the Powercraft Pressure Washercould be better........

Fantastic results as usual. Having kids I can appreciate the door sill problem that your client has.

Ours actually beat Rain-X in (the last rain repellent) Auto-Express test last year...

Admittedly the performance levels were almost identical, but of course Rain-X is more expensive than own brand.

Speachless yet again

One comment I picked up on which you didn't reply to......................

What is Little Helpers name!!??!!

Another nice one there mate

Can I come down and lick the Ferrari wheels clean for you then?

Have my first two paying customers booked in for the next two Saturdays :D so keep your fingers crossed for me - I've kept an eye on your posts to keep me right. I just wish I had a "little helper" too! ;)

Thanks mate........

The owner told me that his son who sits behind the driver got out of the car normally but his daugther, behind the passenger, was a nightmare.........:D
