Fabia Door Speakers

Featured Replies

HI,

I've been looking everywhere for some information on how to change the speakers on the front doors of my Fabia. No luck so far so am hoping that someone on this forum will be able to help.

The front door speakers have blown and I want to put some decent replacements in. I have had the door off and notice that there is a collar on the door that looks like a pain to get off.

My questions are :

1. How do I fit new speakers to the door without having to mount them on the door. Can I get a fitting kit or is it best to have them proffesionally fitted?

2. Any suggestions for a quality replacement?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Barn.

Hi there Barn,

I had alook at my front door speakers the other day.

They dont seem easy to take out as they seem to be riveted in postion, rather than being fixed by screws. :(

I was thinking of upgrading the rears as they seem to be the weak link in the set up.

Not much help sorry, but welcome to the site anyway!

:)

Hi there and welcome to the forum Barn

I have been having thoughts about this too, buit not got round to taking off the door cards yet. Must admit I think I may change the rears first as they do seem to be a bit weak. I think that the front speakers are a 17cm set-up where as the rears are only 10cm! Got a set of 7x10 Kenwoods already set up on a shelf, but not got round to fitting them. Should be a huge improvement over the little un's! :p

Thanks for the replies, I've got to some how change the fronts as the speakers can't be run with any volume at the moment as one is torn.

One of the rear speakers has also gone so I'm going to be replacing that soon also.

Anyone been through this painful process yet and can offer some advice. HELP... My stereo is mono!!!

Damaged speakers should be covered by the Skoda warranty, so

if you go back to the dealers they'll replace the damaged units.

You can then spy how they get them in and out... ;)

I got a door speaker renewed on Skoda Warranty. I'd been playing dance music a little too loud I think and the bass must have blown it. Everytime there was any bass, the LH speaker would rasp and vibarate, which is the most awful sound possible. Up to now though the Driver's speaker has been fine, despite playing whatever loud music I like (got Avril lavigne & feeder-echo park at the moment - top albums!)

This is exactly what has happened to my speaker and am desperate to get them fixed, as any time spent on the Motorway is now music-less because I cannot turn it up past a certain point.

I want to get something other than Skoda parts as they are only Paper cones and are liable to rip again...

and perhaps I do play my music just a little loud now and again.

Someone must have heard how to replace them with non Skoda speakers? I can't believe that I have to put up with the Skoda option being the only option.

After treking to the back of the internet and beyond I have found that www.caraudiodirect.co.uk do a fitting adapter for the Skoda Fabia front door speakers which allow a new 165 mm speaker to be replaced under the door panel. check out the site and do a search for "Skoda" the bit in question is a G451

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk

The company I got my CD player from were pretty good. They even had the correct blanking panel to convert the skoda "gap" to the new player - I was quite impressed with the finish too, even looked better than the old tape player. I reckon if I wanted to get new speakers they'd be very helpful. The trouble is they're a local firm to Exeter, and I don't reckon they have any other branches around the UK. They're called "mobile radio" if anyone wants to look them up. However, I think that any independent car audio specialist would be able to help though - i hope... maybe yellow pages would help?

My front fabia speakers vibrate too! I havent really blasted them out so I just wonder if they are basically a load of crap!

Should I go back to the dealer and get them sorted?

How would you remover the door panel anyway, my drivers door handle rattles and vibrates now and I havent a clue how to get at it, how the helldo skoda assemble things with no visible fixings or screws?

Please someone help me before the vibrations send me insane.

If it's still under warranty take it back to Skoda, the cone of the speaker has come away from the other bit of the speaker and it makes a vibrating sound. Mine did this and I think they are basically crap speakers.

I'm going to get my whole system upgraded to enjoy the long trips I keep making.

Taking the door off is an art, there are four screws, three at the bottom of the door and one behind the little panel next to the door release handle. Then there are some poppers that need to be pulled, three on both the left and right of the panel and then there are three screws behind the door handle (dark grey bit with the electric window buttons on) Once you have these all out (Hard work) then ease the panel up being careful not to pull the wires too much.. bit of a nightmare really.
