Bit of a shock

Featured Replies

I was sitting at a roundabout on Tuesday morning, minding my own business. There was an artic beside me, nothing new there.

As the lorry started to pull away there was a loud bang and a quiet pattering sound, as his tyre blew out. He pulled away trailing an increasing amount of smoke. I was bricking it the rest of the way in to work, wondering what damage it had done to the paintwork, or even if it had dented the panel.

Here's what it looked like:

Note the two buckets. Fortunately it cleaned off perfectly. Quite a shock through.

When I was driving along the M2 I thought I has seen a lorry tyre blow in the distance which sounded like a bomb going off.

I would hate to think how loud it was if it was sitting next to you when it happened

I bet the drivers seat was the hardest part to clean!!

I had that haapen too. It was on the m4. The lorry was going the opposte direction. Blew the wheel arch off the trailer (tanker) which flew up in the air and landed in the road about 2 cars in front of me. I watched it come down, but I think the bloke in front wasn't paying quite so much attention.

Of course, they were my staple diet of cartoons in the Sunday post each week and the alternating annuals for Christmas each year. I still have most of them too :o

I still get exited when i pass Glebe Street in Dundee  If only I could find Stoorie Braes :P

Probably about as much of a shock to find some **** had dented and scratched the passenger sill of my '58 L&K estate! 3 days it lasted being unmolested!!

F*cking ridiculous!

^^^ You have my condolences, mate. Seriously bad luck there. I'd be gutted if it happened to me.

BTW, oor Wullie bucket courtesy of B&Q. (trade dept.)

The other one is a B&Q 99p job, and the handle fell off. After having two go the same way I decided to buy a proper one.

BTW2: Don't bother with those Halfrauds 12v pump buckets. The pressure is low, you have to keep switching it on and off, and it takes me about two-three fills anyway. By the time you've done that you may as well extend the garden hose and put a trigger thing on it. Maybe if you're caravanning and want to wash the car it might just be a good idea.

Apart from the obvious kick in the nuts, I always knew this car was gonna be a workhorse and would be more ****ed if the leather inside had been f*cked up, tbh. Still a gutter, but it's a tiny ding so it's not that bad.

I didn't get away with it.

At the weekend I washed the car for the second or third time since the incident. There are now a nice constellation of stone chips all around the blast area. Maybe one or two dozen of them. It just took the paint a while to fall off. :(

I'll be calling in at the dealers on the way home.

Edit: It's not down to the metal. I have a touch-up pen, and I'll be looking out my 00000 brush.

Have a search for the Dr Colourchip roadrash kit, sounds like the ticket.
