Light the touch paper and stand back.....................

later in the lap he overtook under yellows... (when a backmarker in a williams went off) he was passing raikonnen but went off taking avoiding action when the back marker rejoined.... the FIA seem to have overlooked this.....

ham was past raik at this point... raik overtook ham under this waved yellow and prompty crash at the next corner.... try and vaguely stick to the facts.

ooops my mistake just rewatched it.... and umm your right......and raikkonen needs a 5 or 10 grid drop for the next race

so on this basis - given that raikkonen passed ham twice (and rammed/hit/collided with him at lasource.... before exiting stage left all on his own is any penalty to hamilton justified?

yes... hamilton didnt wait till after la source to overtake raikkonen still the penalty is justified....

no it is not.

no advantage was gained unlike various people cutting the chicane in montreal where no penalties were awarded.

McDennis was clearly so worried by what Hamilton did that he talked to Charlie Whiting to try and get his 'ok' on the situation - that suggests that he already knew it was a close call. I think McLaren do read the rule book, its just that their copy was written by someone other than the FIA.

Hamilton clearly got an advantage at that point by going across the run off area. Had he followed the track then he would have been a good way back on the pit straight and therefore couldn't have overtaken Kimi at the next corner.

Hamilton clearly felt he had gained advantage so let Raikonnen re pass him BUT didn't wait long enough before having anotther go at overtaking him... he should of followed through at la source and that is why he got the penalty.....

Kimi should suffer a penalty for the next event he is involved in IE Monza for passing under Yellow flags However due to the circumstances IE a recovering Williams, an pretty out of control Hamilton Raikkanon could of said he was avoiding accidents and as Both the Williams and the Macca proceeded to take to the grass it would in normal circumstances be upheld as both other cars are deemed out of control Or as shown in, However the stewards would of looked at the incident in any case and their decision under the current rules is final, However Kimi Spun on the exit of the corner and thus both the Williams and the Macca re passed him thus indirectly Kimi let them past but would not of had too Thus their will be no investigation into Kimi Overtaking under yellows furthermore you may of noticed Macca's intentions to appeal, again Macca show their lack of knowledge as this season the stewards decision is final.

Hamilton & Kimi arrived at the chicane side by side, Kimi held the line forcing Hamilton to run wide. Hamilton let Kimi back in front and then passed him at La source. If the situation had been in reverse you can bet Kimi would not have received a penalty. Mclaren are still getting the backlash from last years 'spy' row. Every time a Mclaren driver makes an error a time or grid penalty is handed out. In last race Massa was penalised for running side by side in the pit lane and given a 10000 euro fine. There is without doubt an FIA policy to stop Hamilton and Mclaren at all costs.

I've just watched a video on YouTube, it seems to me that they arrived together, KR took the line and pulled ahead but tagged LH's wheel causing him to go wide.

The questionable part is this bit about waiting until the next corner before passing again.

If this season goes down to the wire I would be surprised if Mclaren were given a set of cross plys for the last race.

Fecking *****.

Seriously, what's the point anymore?

I agree there - still not found that bit in the rules.

According to the ITV F1 site "Hamilton was deemed to have "cut the chicane and gained an advantage", thereby breaching Article 30.3(a) of the sporting regulations and Appendix L chapter 4 Article 2 (g) of the International Sporting Code."

These are: -

30) GENERAL SAFETY

30.1 ......

30.2 ......

30.3 a) During practice and the race, drivers may use only the track and must at all times observe the provisions of the Code relating to driving behaviour on circuits.

and

CHAPTER IV - CODE OF DRIVING CONDUCT ON CIRCUITS

2. Overtaking

a) .....

B)

.....

c) .....

d) .....

e) .....

f) ......

g) The race track alone shall be used by the drivers during the

race.

I've also read about the 25 second penalty rule, but have so far found no mention of "waiting until the next corner".

See the Ferrari sporting rule book, revision 7 Sept 2008 by which all FIA stewards must issue Mclaren penalties.

Ron Dennis should just pack the gear up and feck off home. Tell Mosely and his crooks that if he can't race fairly then he may as well not race at all.

I agree with that one.

I've added a poll to the thread to see the overall view.
