Aux input---help please !!

Featured Replies

Hi All, please talk me through running an Ipod through the Aux input, Aux is selected ON at the head unit, items all connected up----and nothing!!!

Is there something totally obvious that I have missed ?

Thanks in anticipation

Try pushing the CD button on your radio three times if you have a 6disk add on or two times if not

The volume is turned up on the output of the i-Pod? Other that that all sounds like it should work fine

Try another device on the 3.5mm jack, if that works then the problem is the ipod.

How is your ipod connected to the 3.5mm jack? Do you have it plugged into the headphone socket on ipod or via the docking connector at the base?

What's your cars model year?

There's been a little mixup just before the model year changed to 2007. 2006 cars might have aux input option but it doesn't actually work. The radio doesn't support aux even it is possible to enable it from Stream.

There's been some discussions here about that problem.

if another device doesnt work then follow the wire to the back of the radio and make sure it hasnt popped out or snapped.

There is a setting on the HU as well to set the volume level, set this to the higher setting. Also if the 3.5mm jack is plugged in to the headphone socket on your i pod then you'll have to turn the volume on the ipod up high, and maybe the HU volume up a little to hear anything.

Getting one of these

Ipod Base To 3.5-Mm Jack Lead

will mean you don't have to alter the volume on the ipod to hear it, and will give a better quality of sound.

Otherwise Belkin do a version of the above but which also chages the ipod as well. It's what I use. Can't find a link to it at the moment.

To summarise Guiness' thread:

The Stream MP3 was included only after the start of the MY2007 build. Early builds were done with the Stream even though the loom was built for the Stream MP3. Guiness got his swapped by the dealer, but SUK were refusing to do it.

The Stream was theoretically capable of using an Aux input, but actually was not. The change in wiring makes the CD changer sound awful if the Stream MP3 loom is used with the Stream.

There is an easy diagnosis of which HU you have: there is text on the upper right of the HU, just above the CD slot, which should read "Stream MP3".

please check the CABLE you are using... IPODS sometimes don't accept cheap cables.

I faced this problem with my mk2 and an ipod touch. got me a monster cable jack.. plays like a dream now.
