Worst Car Salesman Ever?

Featured Replies

The thing is, with a more sensible exhaust, plus better writing, spelling and phtotography, I'd probably be impressed by the skills used in the lights changes and custom spoiler!

I think you've all missed the point big time

This guy ain't no idiot - he's a genius!

  • Aimed right at his target Barry Boy audience
  • How many people read his ad from start to finish?
  • How long are you going to remember it?
  • Forces you to read it carefully - you can't speed read this!
  • How many other forums did it get listed on?
  • How many people who saw it told their mates to go look?
  • Did he or did he not sell the car?

Ferkin brilliant - in fact possibly the best private car ad ever

Hmm... You could be on to something here...

-Off to edit all my autotrader adverts.

1) True

2) Until I got a translation, I didn't even try to read most of it; it was threatening to give me a headache.

3) Longer than I want to! ;)

4) See (2) and post #26: I didn't read it at all at first.

5) How relevant is that? You want the "right person" to read your ad, not several thousand "wrong people", such as V@*xh@11 haters!

6) See (5)

7) You can sell anything on the interwebnet. I know someone who advertised a part used pack of cigarettes a workman left at their place on fleabay, and sold it for more than a full pack of that brand cost!

2 - ah come on! It was a challenge ;)

5&6 - but the more people that see it the greater the chance of hitting the right one

7 - QED! Yet more brilliant marketing - realised the target audience were a bunch of eejuts and used it to his advantage.

2, 5 and 6) And if I'd been that "right person" rather than someone who wouldn't spend money on a V@*xh@11 to save your life? If I was in the market for a modded car something like that with custom touches rather than just a bolted on bodykit and rims would appeal!

7) Not quite. He did it for the craic originally, and then realised that auctions are a potentially pathological marketplace when he saw what happened. Pistonheads classifieds aren't a pathological market!
