Skoda Felicia Fuel Tank

Featured Replies

Just looking for some advise regarding the size of a 1998 Skoda Felicia fuel tank. As I am doing a project where I need to calculate various different factors and to do some of these calculations I need a size of the fuel tank and with the current price of petrol I do not want to fill it up as I couldn't afford to with being a student.

They're all 42 litres in total. Bear in mind there is the potential for slight expansion and contraction with extremes of heat and cold, and there's probably some extra room somewhere in the filler pipe. I think the manual quotes something like 30 miles worth of petrol remaining when the light comes on?

IMO with rising petrol prices, you're better off brimming your tank today at 109.9p/l than getting £10 worth this week at 109.9p/l then in two weeks time at 111.9p/l.

Remember to look at Free UK fuel prices. 9,709 petrol stations covered - PetrolPrices.com It can be out of date when prices have only just gone up, but it gives you a general idea where petrol is cheapest near you.

Don't forget basic servicing. New plugs, and valve clearance adjustment (1.3 only) will only set you back about £20 including tools. May seem like a waste of £20 but if both have not done in ages it may well improve fuel efficiency enough to get your £20 back in no time plus a whole lot more. Also remember to drive at about 56mph instead of 70mph+ on the motorway, and you will see great gains in MPG. You just need to set off earlier. My MPG also went up driving in higher gears, for example I used to use 3rd at 30mph but now use 4th.

Thanks for the advice. I all ready use petrolprices.com and my car is serviced at least twice a year and it goes in for it's net service on Tuesday.

It's a 42l tank

My cars serviced at least annually or every 10k miles.

Anewmans right in saying you're better brimming the tank. I always filll at empty or near empty anyway plus it makes it easier to work out mpg.

Skodas must be good if we have King Kong driving one now :D

This quote is not nessaserily true, as my fun will return 47 at 70mph, but only 40 at 56mph. and please dont do 56 on a busy motorway as i realy gets up up lorry drivers noses , when it takes 5 miles to pass you, It is bad enough passisng each other. you would be better of sticking to 60 so we cant catch you up

Before any other truckers say you cant do 56 in a truck, remember a trucks tacho is calibrated, a car at 56 on the clock will probably be only doing a shade over 50

I find 65 is the most economical and best speed for my Felly on the motorway.

The engine sits hushed at under 3k and in the power band for when you need the oomph.

Petrol is 107.9 at the Shell station I fill up at. Costs me up to £45 for a full tank every 370-400 miles depending on what type of driving I do.

I agree with Rigsby and the Captain when it comes to speed/consumption. I gould easily get over 55 mpg out of my old Nissan Micra 1.2 if I kept it at 50 mph on minor roads but only 45 mpg at 70 mph. I expected the same pattern when I got my Felly 1.6, but as long as I keep below 3,000-3,200 rpm speed doesn't matter much. Around 45 mpg when I take it easy on longer journeys and down to 38 mpg in city traffic.
