hi rich, the gauge in my car shows my turbo spools to 1.4 bar and backs off to 1.2 bar and then just below 1 bar at 5.5-6000rpm,is yours the same map as mine? aps stage 1:confused:

Yeah should be same map unless there was any updates between the remaps which i dought there would be. im leaning towards the original RR figures still but the boost measurements where certainly interesting.

When I had an APR stage 1 trial map the other day, my gauge showed peak pressure at 17psi (1.17bar).

Now back on standard it's reading around 10.5psi (0.72bar).

Seems like a massive pressure increase to me, poor old engine can't have known what hit it!

Obviously went like stink, but I'm not convinced that there would be no reilability issues with running 70% more boost.

1.4bar with standard engine internals sounds a bit risky to me! Something is going to pop........

Yeah 1.4 bar is too much really imo, i wouldn't like to be running that much pressure on mine.

Mine peaks at 1.16 bar and tails off to about 1 bar.

you could run your standard engine at 350bhp+ perfectly fine as long as you treated it nice and didn't track it every day :)

running 200 on a standard engine is fine as long as its a decent balanced map.

Thanks for the rude insinuations! On the face of it at the time it did not seem that high but now knowing that stadard is .7 bar yes its a extensive increase...But it does not hold 1.4 bar throughout the rev-range. in fact it peaked at 1.36 thin fell to 1.1 bar gradually.

I spoke to JBS and they said the remap should spike to 1.4 bar ad then reduce to 1 bar as it does.

I appreciate peoples concern but the manner in which it is shared is not acceptable.

"Hi, that remap you sold me, it peaks at 1.4 bar, should it do that?"

"Sure it should, double the boost on a standard turbo is fine"

Well you should of seen the no.s of people having the same map as me @ GTI International 2008 there must be alot of turbos waiting to blow up.

what all the fuss about? thats only 20.5 psi, my jabba map boosted higher.

I thought you were the guy that ran high boost as well???/

There was another guy on the day with a black vrs running similar boost?

By the way i liked all of the red octavias there! I used to not like them in red but they almost look as good as a white one!

If you are happy with the map then that's all that counts. When you are at IP ask Mike to take a look at it. I'm sure he will be able to tweek the map to give more power. At 1.4bar you should be running more power and torque than 203bhp. For a small fee he could probably lower the boost and make it run more power.

Tell me again, how many gearboxes did you trash. ;)

Any chance of posting up the RR plot that shows the boost throughout the run????

pretty sure he's only trashed one box, and that was apparently my fault

Well i would like to get it tweaked for more power and less boost....

Just dont want to pay out for another remap......

I am a quantity surveyor after all ...and we are a tight breed......hense having the affordible ride of a skoda ;)....second hand ....exhausts.......budget...intake systems.....

Any one tried that mk4 golf intercooler kit on ebay for £200.00???

I appreciate peoples concern but the manner in which it is shared is not acceptable.

Its called banter, don't take it to heart!! :)

No its forum abuse!

No its forum abuse!

If you genuinely think its anything more than banter, then you've got the wrong end of the stick. At the bottom of it people are only thinking about your best interests, honest!

No its forum abuse!

how was

It also gets you a blown turbo.

Only 203 bhp at 1.4 bar for the amount of time it held it is not too good

even slightly abusive? if anything, your immediate response is what was uncalled for. but I'm sure that was meant as nothing more than harmless ribbing/banter

i hit 1.14 bar peak on mine which i felt was a little high but im not to concerned about it just interesting to see what everyones pressure was hitting. Especially as people with the Big turbo conversions wernt hitting that high of boost pressure which i still dont quite understand how??????

i was the black octavia there with standard brakes and no real mods appart from map and panel filter. Was interesting as i thought there may have been some issues with my DV or something with my ongoing 17705 fault but im certainly thinking thats its the TB thats it causing it now.

If you get a chance get out in another octavia at some point and see how different iot feels and see if your happy with how yours feels. if JBS seem happy with you hitting 1.4bar then you should be fine as there proffesional at the end of the day and there will be lots of people with that map. have an ask around the seat and vag and audisport forums to see if anyone has had any issues with it at all. Also i would consider replacing your DV and seeing if you notice any difference in how the car drives?

i wouldnt take it to heart about them going on about your map as its easy to mis-interpret typed banter.

Think that should read 'JBS' not JKM :)
