RR Results from Marlin this morning

Featured Replies

Quite happy with the results and was surprised how much the heat soak seemed to affect it on the second run which does explain my results from Surrey RR a few months ago.

Some may say are cars are boosting too high........

HOWEVER they have not considered that...

Boost gets you SEX!

Not for me, SWMBO gets a bad neck and i get a slap round the ear hole.

Rich what brand of RR was it?

The Dyno dynamics like the one you used before are reputed to be one of the most accurate in the business, therefore will give the most disappointing results.

Standard cars performance on the day is a good indication of an accurate RR

Well I lost a bit of power from last time be I do now have a different map and am only running just over 1bar peak and holding just under 1bar through the rev range :D

The RR at Marlin is a good one and you will get a accurate figure IMO

Not sure what the later cars did as I had to get back to work :(

I never realised intake temps were so high on a SMIC:eek:

I was amazed at how quick the bhp results went down on mine between runs.

the reason im leaning towards these results more is the heatsoak issue as i had been giving the car a lot of greif on the way to the previous rr and it went almost straight onto the rollers, and that on the second run today the car hit similar figures to the previous runs with the second runs intake temp been much higher today. i always take the figures with a pinch of salt anyway but i think both are pretty accurate. just this morning everything was cooler and the engine was cool.

I dont think the temps would be nearly as bad on the road due to the air being forced through compared to a fan.

Think your right there Andy i was getting a max of 48c according to vag-com back in April.

Whats heatsoak :P

Is that a standard car WHP is very low.:)

It also gets you a blown turbo.

Only 203 bhp at 1.4 bar for the amount of time it held it is not too good.

Well thanks for your concern...... but believe it or not i did not go with the intention of getting a remap so i can blow my turbo i was under the impression c/c were repuatble. But i have emailed JBS who installed the software to ask what they think it should boost at! thanks dad!

Your car, your map, your choice, only trying to advise you that the boost is high for the bhp shown, and continual use of the car being driven hard at those boost rates, will not do it too much good.

Well believe it or not the old git is only trying to help you. Would you have even questioned the map had Gerry(Dad)/others not brought it to your attention, I think not. Still, we are men after all and not good at taking advice.

Good luck with JBS.

Des,

Not too sure if I should take this as compliment or an insult ???:rofl::rofl:

Pass my pipe and slippers.:P

He's right whp does seem low, does anybody know why or does every RR calculate differently?

I was happy with mine :) 4 years on and only dropped 9bhp:P Must be all the clutter ive got in there:rolleyes: and the bigger bloke was sat in it as well...:D Phil

Can someone explain the figures in the Ignitio part of the graph (Second photo)

What do they mean?

Mine are higher up to 2200 then lower up to 3700 and then much higher

Whats heatsoak :P

every car suffers with heat soak tom

its just that a turbo car will accentuate it

degree of ignition advance isnt it?

i hit 1.14bar (16.5psi) pressure im assuming thats not to high?

My boost is the same (Peak 1.12 bar) then just under 1 bar for the rest of the map still making 220 bhp.

My ignition was up at 18.5 though

I wouldn't take much notice of that as everyone's read out showed stupid timing.

1.4 bar and only 203hp sounds like a 1st class ticket to blown turbo city.......

Just what we told him on the day

Well under 1 bar myself and still putting out 228bhp:D
