rSAP Phones that work?

Featured Replies

old nokia 6230i works perfectly

the voice control on the elegance is cool. press the sterring wheel button in the left and hold for three seconds. then say "dial" . then say number all in one go, not one digit at a time, and it recognises the whole number. I played with this in the demo car i tried and it worked every time without any errors. well - apart from when i uttered "f**k me thats clever" and the system replied with "pardon" !!!! LOL

Does it tell the wife to stop nagging as well LOL

I am thinking of getting a Blackberry 9000 Bold anyone got any idea whether it will work with Rsap.

The Bold definitely supports rSAP, as can be found here in the manual:

Bluetooth profiles

Therefore, it should work fine with the Columbus in the Superb. It would be worth checking this with your network, as some (3, in particular) disable rSAP on their phones.

EDIT: As RedBaron says, I don't think Three are disabling rSAP. They just don't allow you to force the phone into doing 2G only.

the reason most 3/3g phones dont work/work well is that the car has a gsm aerial not 3G hence poor signal. Merc dropped SAP bluetooth after 2 years of custs screaming and went back to normal bluetooth.

Even this explanation doesn't make much sense, though. If the car kit doesn't have a 3G antenna, it should simply make a 2G connection to the network, and all is well. This is certainly what happens with my N95 and E61 in the Superb.

As the car kit becomes the phone, then any dependency on the 3G network should be removed, shouldn't it?

I guess the only way this could be a problem is if Three don't allow connections to their 2G network partner when 3G coverage exists. I know they do this with the phone handset itself, but didn't think this would apply if you could put the phone in rSAP mode.

In Ukraine we have as option 3 GSM preparation: GSMI, GSMII (UHV + Bluetooth) and GSMIII (UHV + rSAP). What the praparetion I need to look all information about call on maxi-dot and Bolero?

GSMII will you give you basic operation through maxidot and touchscreen. This will also give you a cradle to mount certain phone in (you need to specify which phone when you order).

GSMIII is the best solution, as it offers full touchscreen control of everything, including SMS, contact book, missed calls, etc.

This is a bluetooth only solution, so no cradle is required. Your phone must support rSAP though.

I believe you can make calls by dialling the number on the touchscreen, and also answer calls. That's about it.

With the GSMIII, you can access your phonebook for dialling, see missed call lists, received calls, even SMS messages from some phones. With the GSMII kit, you are also still dependent on the phone for GSM comms. With the GSMIII, you are using a phone and aerial that is built into the car, so you will get better reception.

didnt know you could get GSMII with the superb ? thought it was GSMIII std in the eleganceand option on the SE and that was it ?

GSMIII is the only thing available in the UK. The other options are territory specific. I think you can get GSMII in France, Germany, Belgium etc., but not GSMI. Sounds like the Ukraine gets all the options.

so the UK gets better spec than europe !!! that makes a nice change !

The rest of Europe can also choose GSMIII if they want to. I think Skoda UK just went with the best option, and ignored the others.

(Well, some people would argue that the rSAP stuff isn't the best option, but it's certainly the one that best integrates with the Columbus).

Paired my old N95 with the car today, gotta say the phone system is excellent. From Voice activated dialing which allows you to speak in a number and understands a Scottish accent hehe to the signal was a constant 5 bars from Glasgow to Edinburgh in addition the phone clarity is excellent. I wasn't expecting to be able to read text messages but they come through the maxidot screen as soon as they are received. Just need a voice to text system for replying lol.

Hi all,

my very old (bue) work blackberry has just been replaced with a 8520 my system see's it and says not compatable. My Wife's Blackberry 8900 connects no trouble. So some blackberrys (storm, 9000, 8900others?) may work too.

Hope this helps.

So where is the aerial placed, is it a separate thing or intergrated with the radio aerial?

Dear All,

The BlackBerry 8520 will work. I stumbled on this tip at the on line BlackBerry owners lounge. It was aimed at VW but of course works on the Columbus.

As I said yesterday the system will "see" the my BlackBerry 8520 but declares it as an incompatible device. So the advice is first set the BlackBerry bluetooth set up to "listen", then ask the car to "search for devices" this time it sees and accepts the device in the normal way.

As for which BlackBerries are compatible it seem that most? from the 8520 up could be. Check the bluetooth options on your device and you must have an option (near the bottom) something like “rSAP” or “Sim Access Protocol” available and ticked.

Both mine and my wifes BlackBerries (8520 and 8900) now work a treat. I have checked a colleagues 8310 and it hasn't got the above facility in the bluetooth options menu.

Cheers
